The East Fremantle (Men’s) Football Club will play in a curtain raiser on Saturday 23rd April ahead of the Anzac Derby clash between East Fremantle and South Fremantle Women’s Football Clubs.
“It’s an exciting time for Men’s footy," stated Sharks Head Coach Stephanie Walding.
“This will be a chance for the men to showcase their skills, and it's great to see Men’s Football finally getting the recognition it deserves. There are some talented players on both sides and the fans who get there early will be treated to some high quality footy ahead of our match.”
The Women's twilight match is slated to be another blockbuster, with all three Fremantle Derby clashes in 2015 decided by a goal or less. The Sharks will take confidence from winning two of these three contests, including a nail biting victory at Domain Stadium.
Sharks players in action on Saturday night will feature AFL stars Brianna Green, Caitlyn Edwards and Jess Weutschner, who all took part in last year’s Melbourne vs Demons AFL match. They will be joined by three teammates who represented the Dockers and the Eagles a fortnight ago; Cassie Davidson, Mel Caulfield and Alex Williams.
The Sharks will be without both Co-Captains, with Jo Beechey sidelined with a broken arm from the season opener, and Emma Swanson due to travel commitments. The team are also waiting doctors reports on Zoe Palandri (Fremantle Dockers) and 2015 Rookie of the Year Erin Fox prior to selections.
The Bulldogs also boast a start studded line up, including Sabrina Frederick Traub (Melbourne Demons, Fremantle Dockers), Chloe Taylor (Fremantle Dockers), Kahra Sprlyan (West Coast Eagles), Katrina Tinson (West Coast Eagles).
Fans are encouraged to get along to ATOM Stadium at 2:30pm for the ANZAC Ceremony. The Men's game will follow at 2:40pm before the main event bounces down under lights at 5:30pm.
Full bar and catering will be available all day, plus a kid’s area with bouncy castles and facepainting from 2pm-5pm.
