Reserves
Full Match Report:
A badly depleted, due to unavailability and injury, reserves team took the field with just the bare 18 players, of which 5 had just finished playing a full game in the Colts which had been played in tough trying conditions.
The full opening quarter was played in one half of the ground and it was not the half the Dogs were kicking to, as Kerang completely dominated the quarter. If not for the outstanding work down back from Joe O’Reilly, Marc Jones, Dave McCann and Dane Koetsveld the Blues would well have kicked many more games.
The second quarter was almost a replica of the opening stanza, however thanks to the hard work of Corey Frost, Ross Dadds, Zac Pocock and Kaylem Hartley, the Dogs did manage to get the ball in the forward 50 on a couple of occasions, resulting in our only score in the first half, a rushed behind, to trail by 53 points at the main break.
The third quarter did see a lift from the Dogs, as they managed to keep the ball within their forward line for at least a third of the quarter but unfortunately were unable to convert, with their only score being a point kicked off the ground.
The last opened term with Kerang again doing all the attacking, slamming on a couple of early goals.
But then it happened, as the reserves suddenly found themselves in a purple patch of form. Dadds, working hard, was rewarded for a great tackle and then found a leading Michael Crowe who passed to Jared Frame, who marked strongly 35 metres out from goal. Frame kicked accurately to finally provide the Dogs supporters with something to cheer about.
The Dogs lifted as Craig Fletcher and Zac Pocock combined to give Frame another chance to goal from the same position, but this time he was off line in scoring a behind.
A wonderful contested mark by Dadds from the kick in, saw him land the ball back in the square where Frame had a third chance in as many minutes to score, but his snap was off line again.
Despite the final scores reflecting a very one sided game, the players that took the field could hold their heads up high as they had a least made themselves available and had given their all for the cause.

First Quarter:
On a ground quite wet from heavy overnight rain, the Colts kicked with the aid of the breeze in the opening term. Brock Storer marked strongly at Centre Half Forward, played on but his kicked only brought up a behind to open the scoring. Shortly after Matt Lanigan had a chance to goal but also missed from deep in the pocket.
The Dogs were attacking relentlessly as driving rain arrived to make conditions even more difficult for the players. It took Kerang until the eleven minute mark of the opening term to take the ball forward but they were rewarded with a major when they did.
Storer again marked strongly shortly after, only 25 metres out directly in front but again his kick slid off line. From the resultant kick in, Bryce Delmenico found Lanigan who mark, played on and snapped truly.
The “Hypens”, led by Mitch Seton-Stewart, Luke Rundell-Gorden (Undies) and Zac Rundell-Gorden (Junior Undies), were all working overtime for the Dogs, ably assisted under the packs by Jakeb Templeton and Delmenico. Seton-Stewart had a chance to bring up full points late in the term but he was off line with his shot, leaving Kerang to attack right on the siren but they too were off line.
Quarter Time Scores: Tyntynder 1-4-10 to Kerang 1-1-7
Second Quarter:
Heavy rained continued making things difficult for all including the young boundary umpires. And when one elderly Kerang supporter saw fit to berate the boys for what his considered a poor throw in, he was soon put back in place by a senior official and rightly so.
Kerang did all the early attacking, resulting in two goals within the first five minutes to provide them with the lead. When Josh Filo marked strongly and goaled for Kerang, the game appeared in danger of being swept away in the rain from the Dogs.
The Dogs pushed forward and Templeton swooped on a loose ball at CHF, ran into the open goal but was off line from 30 metres out.
The game became a desperate slog, with the Dogs lifting their work rate, with the forwards working hard to keep the ball in the scoring zone. Kaylem Hartley, Zac Pocock, Seton-Stewart and Undies were driving the ball back in when Kerang did manage to clear it. The Dogs had all the play late in the term but Lanigan’s snap for a behind was the only further addition to the score before the major break.
Half Time Scores: Tyntynder 1-6-12 to Kerang 3-2-20
Third Quarter:
The rain remained heavy during the break as players were even forced to take shelter within the rooms such were the conditions.
David Baker scored the opening behind when his kick on goal was touched off the boot, and Delmenico was also off line with his snap from 35 metres shortly after.
Storer, putting his body on the line, received a free for in the back, and the resultant kick never looked like missing to finally bring up the Dogs second major.
Kerang were not to be denied and a quick reply was against the trend in play.
The Dogs kept pushing as Undies and then Pocock both missed gettable chances. Thanks to some strong play from Matt Willox who found Lanigan who snapped truly, the Dogs were finally back in the lead.
Willox was again involved shortly after, being rewarded for a strong tackle, then finding Storer who marked and goaled from 30 metres out.
Three Quarter Time Score: Tyntynder 4-10-34 to Kerang 4-2-26
Final Quarter:
The rain had cleared but the ground was extremely heavy making ball handling difficult.
The Dogs continued to attack with all boys working hard. Willox snap from 40 missed but when Delmenico found the ball from the kick in, his handball to Bo Mitchell was rewarded when Mitchell snapped a freakish goal from deep in the pocket to really lift the boys.
Pocock, Junior Undies, Julian Bishop, Hartley, Will Smith and Kenneth Echaluce were doing a fantastic job repelling all efforts Kerang made to go forward.
Templeton, Seton-Stewart, Jake Gilbert and Delmenico were all working hard around the contested ball, as Templeton combined with Lanigan who again missed a snap on goal. Mitchell had another chance but this time he could not repeat his earlier effort as he narrowly missed what would have been another inspirational goal.
Seton-Stewart continued to win the hard ball, and he drove the ball forward again, this time resulting in Lanigan handballing to Delmenico whose pass was marked by Baker to kick the sealer.
The final minutes of the game became a real slog as many tired boys continued to fight every inch of the way to record a solid win against a strong opponent.
Final Scores: Tyntynder 6-13-49 defeated Kerang 4-2-26
