The Inaugural NAB Auskick Gala Day held on the Alan Garden Reserve on Sunday June 26th has been declared an outstanding success by event organisers. Fabulous weather conditions ensured a great roll up on the day with in excess of 200 Auskick aged children participating at different stages of the event. The NAB Auskick Super Clinic is a first for country football in that it bought together participants from four different Victorian Football Leagues - the NCFNL, GRFNL, MFNL and the CMFL and was the first (to the best of organisers knowledge), to be held outside Metropolitan Melbourne.
Tyntynder Football Netball Club's Auskick Co ordinator (and co event organiser) Rob Masters reports "the day was born of an idea to get kids of the CMFNL together" prior to playing an Auskick Grid Game on the MCG next weekend. Masters said that securing the AFL Inflatables and "ensuring cost was no barrier to participation"were key factors ensuring such a large turn out on the day and thanked the NAB for their support. Another highlight of the day was the "Fruit Stop / Healthy Choices" Skills Activity Station (Rest Stop) - much to the delight of parents and care givers.
Auskick Centre Co ordinators from around the Mallee gave up their time to help facilitate the super clinic in an incredible show of support for the event. TFNC President Mal Devereux spoke of Auskickers travelling from as far away as Walpeup, Ouyen, Boort, Wycheproof, Quambatook, Nullawil, Leitchville / Gunbower and Sea Lake to join with CMFL Auskickers, and signalled the Tyntynder Football Netball Cub's intention to hold the event again in 2012.
The TFNC would like to acnowledge Trev Mellington (Central Murray / North Central Mallee AFL Development Officer) whose support and guidance have been invaluable in getting the Gala Day off the ground, the National Australia Bank (NAB), especially the role of "Glen" and his staff from the Swan Hill branch, Lower Murray Water for their support on the day, Elliott Emu and the Guardian, CMFL Junior Development Officers Dave Henson, Jamie Macri and Geoff Hickmott, Gav Hoare, Swan Hill Emergency Services, Auskick co ordinators from around the region, Dawn and the canteen girls, Tony Mazzarella, Andy Seton -Stewart, Peter (Bubbles)Hawkins, Leanne Bibby, Brendan Smith (time keeper), Daryl White, Swan Hill Mackillop College Sport & Recreation students and of course our own Red, White and Blue Army who once again came out in large numbers to ensure the smooth running of the day. Many thanks to all involved.
Bringing kids of the NCFNL, GRFNC, MFNL & CMFL together through sport......
