Auskickers from the Golden Rivers, North Central, Mallee, Heathcote & District & Central Murray Football Leagues converged onto the Alan Garden Reserve yesterday joining together for a day of skills, drills and football themed activities. Successful? You bet it was!
Mr Peter Walsh, Deputy Leader of the Nationals, Minister for Agriculture and Food Security and, Minister for Water opened proceedings and spoke not only the benefits of being involved in sporting activities but of the benefits of belonging to a wider Mallee Community. Mr Walsh went on to declare the 3rd Auskick Gala Day "open" to the cheers of our young crowd!
Highlights of the FREE day included the "Giant AFL Inflatable", Grid Games and Skills Activities Stations and once again the Lower Murray Water "Fruit Stop and Healthy Choices Station" proved extremely popular with parents and Auskickers alike. Healthy messages abounded on the day as Auskickers travelling from Letchville Gunbower, Quambatook, Wycheproof, Birchip , Sea Lake and Ultima took the opportunity to be part of the annual Super Clinic.
A warm welcome was extended to the Swan Hill Aboriginal Health Services' "Well Being Team" who for the first time facilitated popular Skills Activity Station - well done Jacinta, Imparja and team, see you next year!
In keeping with the Mother's Day theme and with the support of Sebastian, Rebecca and the team from Swan Hill & Kerang Toyota / KIA, a special gift of chocolates was prestented to each special lady who registered an Auskicker on the day. "Celebrating Mothers and the special ladies in our lives"
The eventual winner of the COLES Mother's Day raffle prize was Paige Nicholls of Wycheproof. Way to go Paige! COLES also generously provided each CMFNL Club who facillitated a skills activity station on the day with a COLES gift card for their own Auskick Centre. Thanks to COLES Swan Hill, Scott & Jason for their support.
Special thanks to David Wright of the Leitchville Gunbower Football Netball Club who facilitated a skills activity station at short notice - much appreciated by the organising committee.
The NAB Bank sponsored "Auskick Centre Prize" was won by the Quambatook Auskick Centre - go the Saints!
Central Murray / North Central Mallee Region Development Manager Trevor Mellington was delighted with the way the day panned out and thanked the Organising Committee for their dedication to developing pathways int senior football. Trevor went on to compliment the clubs of the Central Murray for their united approach to junior development.

Once again our Junior Development Officers Dave Henson, Jamie Macri and Geoff Hickmott went above and beyond to ensure the day was a success - thanks guys, bigger and better in 2014!
Thanks also to clubs of the Central Murray Football Netball League - Woorinen, Koondrook Barham, Mallee Eagles, Kerang, Balranald, Lake Boga , Nyah Nyah West United, Tooleybuc Manangatang and Tyntynder for the united approach, great job facilitating skills activities stations and contributing in such a positive way to the junior development of our Auskickers.
