WOW! (pardon the pun!) in their first radio appearance of the year (ok, first ever...), Campbell and BC learned a few things about what to and what not to do when on radio...
- DO check that microphones are actually turned off when you are entering the studio
- DON’T talk about your hair when the microphones are ‘accidentally’ left on by the presenters
- DO your hair nicely as you never know when there will be a video camera recording in the studio
- DON’T think that you won’t cop endless remarks from your “mates” about your “OFF hAIR” comment
- DON’T think they will be interested in the full story
- DO know who other club members are, especially the A Grade coach, in case you are asked about them (sorry Knowlesy!!)
- DO know the league fixture in case the presenters don’t!
- DO remember that interviewing is a team sport and you need to bring your teammate into the play (poor BC!!)
- DON'T worry about visual communication techniques (waving your arms around)... the audience can't see you!
- DON’T interrupt the presenters to “get in” before your interview buddy does (but hey...! It’s dog eat dog in the media world)
So… what are the stars of radio doing now?!
Sitting back and waiting for their phones to ring - they are in high demand now ;)
Didn't get the "WOW! (pardon the pun)" bit in the first sentence? A great supporter of local and Women's footy is 100.5 WOW FM (Way Out West), a small broadcasting company in the Western suburbs.
