This week’s Calibre Community Connection Volunteer of the Week award has been won by Lyn Giccominato. Lyn is a committee member of the Southern Bluetongues as well as the Secretary of her local club, the Casey Kings Soccer Club.

The proud mother of two Southern Bluetongues players, Lyn manages to juggle parenting with assisting the zone whenever she is called upon. She is always on hand at training and match days to help coaches, players and spectators and is often the last to leave as she locks up the facilities. She also takes on the responsibility of co-ordinating sponsorships for the zone.

Lyn’s tireless work and commitment to football is inspiring to all she comes into contact with around the zone.   Lyn has ended up having to do a lot more than she originally anticipated, and the zone would not be progressing so well without her constant support.

Gracious as ever, Lyn was stunned to win the award.

“This was very unexpected and I am incredibly grateful for the recognition for the work done by myself and all volunteers,” she said.

She is now eligible to win the Calibre Community Connection Volunteer of the Year award to be announced at the VCL Gold Medal Night on Saturday 10 March 2012.

Lyn has elected the Casey Kings Soccer Club to receive the $300 Samba Sports voucher to invest in football equipment.
