Hello Folks,
As you may already know, season 2015 will see Jon Hayres stepping back from the Head Coaching position that he has held for the past 3 years.
As we all know, Jon has committed an enormous amount of time and effort to the club during his time at the helm and there is no doubt that we are substantially better off as a club for his efforts and guidance.
Amongst other things Jon has championed an open, accepting environment throughout the club, the development of our game plan, been central in the recruitment of key players, guided the development of our 19’s group with Jamie O’Dell and has driven numerous improvements in our football operations.
At a personal level, Jon has helped in many ways during my first year of football operations and I know I’m not the only one at the club who has had this kind of experience with him. This is significant I think, given the heavy demands on Jon’s time from his coaching and professional commitments.
On behalf of the club I'd like to sincerely thank Jon, Lisa and their family for the enormous contribution that Jon has made in his role as Head Coach, as well as for the considerable time away from family that this has no doubt required.
The good news is that although he is stepping down as Head Coach, Jon will still be seen around Gore Hill and will play a key role in the creation of the new development program that will be established for our younger players, to assist them reach their potential in AFL.
I’m very sure that we will see the real benefit of Jon’s contribution to the club in season 2015 and beyond, so thanks very much Jon and well done.
For those wondering who the 2015 coach will be, discussions are well advanced and we expect to make an announcement on this in the very near future.
Cheers
John Goode
