The women’s side dominated Belconnen on Saturday winning by 61 points and advancing through to the Grand Final for the second year in a row as they eye off a back to back premiership.

The late withdrawal of captain Kasie Nugent didn’t affect the side as they took a four goal advantage into the quarter break. In testing conditions the Demons were only able kick a further goal in the second quarter but the team defensive work caused plenty of issues for the Magpies as they were only able to kick one behind for the half.
Much was the same in the second half as conditions improved allowing the Demons to kick five second half goals whilst their relentless defensive work only allowed Belconnen two further behinds to ensure the Magpies remained goalless for the match.
Karina Demant was vital up forward kicking five goals whilst Melissa Johnson aided by the work of Sally Seabrook in the ruck, ran rampant through the midfield with a best on ground performance.
Georgia Stewart and Annica Schoo in defence lead the way for the Demons defensive efforts whilst Hope Wilkins returned from injury working her way into the match to play a pivotal role on the wing.
The side gets a week off this week whilst Belconnen and Gungahlin face each other in the preliminary final for a spot against the Demons in two week’s time.
