First Grade
No doubt it’s been a long season for the Demons with wins few and far between, but they will take plenty of confidence into the final home & away clash against league leaders Ainslie at Football Park tomorrow.
The Demons have pushed both Belconnen and Queanbeyan in recent weeks showing their vast improvement across the season with re-signed coach Dan Ryall happy with the way the boys have finished off the season.
The Demons welcome back forward Sam De Sousa for the final round replacing Michael McCormack who heads back to the Rising Stars whilst midfielder Shae Darcy also returns for the unavailable Jake Gunning.
The backline will be aiming to shut down the Tricolours key forwards in Nick Salter and Hayden Armstrong through Jake Gumley who has been in great form and Alex Wilson.
Midfielder Ciaran O’Rourke will look to finish to the season on good note following a consistent season and will be aided by Harry Bryant and captain Ben Scott.
A tough challenge for the young Demons, however they will be looking to improve on past results this season against Ainslie.
Second Grade
Following a loss last week all but ruling out the side of finals action, the 2’s will be look to finish the season on positive note despite being belted by Ainslie in the two matches this season.
The 2’s gave the Tricolours a real run for their money clash last time around with high defensive pressure and will look to do the same again their final match of the season.
Defender Harry Block is a welcome return for the match whilst Chris Williams, Matthew Pert and forward Dinan McMahon also come into the side.
There has been some improvement in the group over the season however they will be left to rue a number of winnable matches which will see them miss the finals.
Coach Cheyne Webster will be looking to his senior players to lead from the front against the league leaders including Lachlan Marshall, Jono Painting and Tim Mead who have worked hard all season.
Rising Stars
Coming off a loss last week to finals contenders Queanbeyan, the Demons come up against league leaders and undefeated Ainslie in the final round of home and away matches.
The Demons will be looking to push the Tricolours after losing both matches so far this season and will be aided by the return of ruckman Michael McCormack from First Grade.
McCormack has been in great form in the seniors and will look to bring that form back to the Rising Stars to aid their finals campaign.
Coach Peter Jensen will be looking to see players put their hand up with finals around the corner next week as the competition for spots heats up whilst he will also look to his leaders in David Cheffers, James Roberts, Liam Lupton and Sam Burge to lead the way against the rampant Ainslie.
Should the Demons bring their A game, it should be tight clash and mouthwatering entry into finals next week for the young Demons with plenty of talent on show tomorrow.
