The Noosa Tigers are saddened by the passing, this week, of club stalwart Jan McCafferty.
Jan association with the Tigers dates back to the early 70's when she and Tom would arrive at the ground, on junior game day, at 7 or 8am and still be there at 5pm. Word has it that Jan would sometimes nip home in the late afternoon, put on the roast and then come back to the club for a few quiet beers and a chat with her mates.
During her time at the club Jan helped in the canteen and bar, was involved in helping out whenever she could and served on the Junior Committee.
Always one of the first to putr her hand up for the Ladies Football Trip away. We understand her favourite trip away was in 1982 when the ladies made the journey to the Gold Coast. When they entered the bar at one of the hotels there were the members of Jans beloved Carlton Football Club who were on their own footy trip.
Jan was inducted into the AFL Sunshine Coast Hall of Fame in 2010 and her profile in the official programme read as follows..."Jan McCafferty – A fantastic commitment to the Noosa Tigers over 25 years as a volunteer in the canteen, the bar and clubhouse cleaner. Jan is the sort of person who is the lifeblood of any footy club. What more can you say except well done Jan, you are a bloody legend." '
She is survived by her husband Tom, sons Peter and Steven and their families.
