The Rococo Bistro Noosa Tigers were beaten by a more desperate and experienced back to back premier in Mayne last Saturday in Brisbane.
Coming off a magnificent, relentless pressure based, victory over Caloundra at home the previous week the Tigers looked, for the most part, flat whilst their opponents were certainly up and about in their 28 point victory. Whilst the Noosa sides first half was admirable, they were just unable to kick on from their 3 point half time lead as the 2014/15 champs powered home As mentioned in the headline, the Tigers lost four of their best from the previous week with Isles, Davis, Fitzpatrick and Tickner unable to play due to injury.
When asked about the result defensive coach Brad Cross stated, "we were OK in the first half but really fell away. We were the ones being hunted and we just looked flat, to be honest. All credit to Mayne though, they looked goods today."
As usual there were some terrific individual efforts for Noosa none better than youngsters Lachy Cameron and Corey Boardman who really are playing inspiring footy that is well beyond their years. Theoverall attack on the footy continues to impress the Tiger faithful each week and their consistency of performance impressive also.
Speaking of consistency co-captains Nick Hill and Tommy McKitrick again gathered heaps of the footy with Hill especially having another wonderful season after being named club champion in 2015. Sutton, Moloney and coach Faure all booted 2 goals although 8 goals was never going to be enough to beat Mayne last week.
The Tigers drop to 4th on the QFA (North) ladder but are still only one game off a top two finish with s crucial away game against Moreton Bay at Caboolture this Saturday.
On a positive note a big congrats to Danny O’brien and his ressies on a stellar win against a good opponent and with limited player numbers. Heaps of passion and character shown by all the boys well done.
Go Tigers cheers Pittsy

On Thursday night the Rococo Bistro Noosa Tigers Reserves had nine changes; six were away with work, holidays or sick and 3 went up into The Seniors. I asked our group for effort and emphasised our team structures and our style of play. We started the game with only 20playerswith Crossy and myself on the bench In the first 10mins our pressure was exactly where it needed to be. I looked across at Crossy, Dan Tickner and Kym Hendrie and said Yes! We have come to play!! You little ripper.
JJ’s efforts in the back line were superb. In his first season of AFL Jimmy Harrison backed up from last week with another ripper game; he is so strong for his size it’s unbelievable how he competes.
Then, in a blink of an eye, we lost 2 players with yellow cards. So for 15 minutes we had no bench in the second quarter. It was a real arm wrestle but the feeling out there was very positive. We came out after half time and, wow-wee, our relentless pressure went through the roof.
We were all starting to have fun. Our captain for the day, Scotty “PI Magnum” Wagner was killing it at full back while Jamen Warren in the midfield was hard at the ball all day. Logan Thornborrow, our ruckman with his size15 feet was dominating every contest around the ground and some of his tackles were outstanding. Half back flanker Biddy was giving us so much drive his agility and then kicking the ball 50 plus metres is very exciting. In the last quarter we were still going strong with Seb Clift 125kg of muscle booted 5 and new comer Patty harris grabbing 3 goals was very pleasing .
Next week will be hard to pick the side after what I think was clearly our best win of the last two seasons.
With nine changes, what we were up against from Thursday night, not to many sides that I’ve been involved in can do it the way we did it last Saturday against Mayne.
Cheers Danny.
