Redlegs defeated by competition leaders
The Kedron Senior side suffered a seven goal loss to competition leaders, Mayne Tigers yesterday. The Redlegs were competitive most of the day as both sides lamented missed opportunities in front of goal. Mayne withstood strong challenges from Kedron in the second and third quarters, showing why they are the competition benchmark. Best for the Redlegs was Zooey, who showed he revels in putting his body on the line. Dougie was strong on the half back flank in his second senior game and big Jakey was again tireless in the ruck, with a nonstop four quarter display. Nutta Clarke, Ducey and Double were classy with the ball and despite the final score , there were many positives to take from the game. Rhino Yorston showed his good form in the Ressies put him in good stead for his first senior game of the season.
Final scores were 17-14-117 to 10-16-76.
A depleted Ressies side found the going very tough against a fast, young and formidable Tigers outfit. The competition leaders were ruthless in front of goal and gave the Redlegs a lesson in getting numbers to the ball and sticking to their game plan and structures. The side is looking forward to getting a number of key players back for our next home game against Nambour next Saturday 3 May 2014.
Make a note to get down to the club for the Ressies at 11.45am followed by the Seniors at 2.15pm. Bring your worst shirt in your wardrobe to wear at our "Shite Shirt Night' in the club after the game, and enjoy a few convivials with the Ducey and the boys.
See you there!
