Saturday - v. Mawson Lakes at Mawson Lakes - Reserves - 12.15, A's - 2.15
Sunday - v. Unley Mitcham at Price Memorial Oval - Under 18' s - 3.00
All games are away this week with wins needed in the A's and Reserves to keep in touch with a finals chance. We know it's cold but at least it won't be wet so rug up and please come out to watch the Roys! And cheer on our Under 18's on Sunday against Unley Mitcham.
It's Ladies Night back at the club on Saturday (speak to Sarah, G or Kiri for last minutes tickets to a great night). After match Presentations will therefore be held at the Windmill Hotel to support a local business - meals, bar and TAB facilities will be available.
Last weeks results were impressive - the Reserves defeated Flinders Uni by 39 points, 12.18 to 8.03 and in the A's against Mitchell Park we had a big win by 264 points, 46.14 to 4.02 with an incredible 16 goals straight kicked in the last quarter! Unfortunately the Under 18's went down 3.04 to 22.19 against Flinders Park on Sunday.
We also had the Mouse Cup on Saturday night with plenty of fun had by all. Congratulations to Nick Hollitt and Nathan Rayner on their big win as owners of the winning mouse! Thank you to all who helped with the running of the night.
*** Round 16 Results ***
Another week where the A's & Reserves both won and the Under 18's came very close!
Our Reserves defeated Mawson Lakes 9.08 to 5.06 to secure their 4th straight win and the A's won comfortably 14.13 to 6.06, for 3 in a row, against a determined Mawson Lakes outfit.
A great effort on Sunday with our Under 18's taking on Unley Mitcham - we only had 16 players against their 23 and lead for 3 quarters before going down by 8 points, 7.06 to 8.08. We're proud of a true Lions effort boys!
****** The Bounce ************
Division 6 has a new ladder leader,
Blackfriars Old Scholars. This stems
from West Croydon’s massive 74
point victory against Ingle Farm
which no-one anticipated and as a
result has knocked the Bulldogs from
its perch. The Hawks win has moved
them into the same class as Blackfriars
and Ingle Farm and it appears it
will be a three horse race for the
premiership. New league leader,
Blackfriars Old Scholars won as expected
against Angle Vale and
boosted its percentage in the process.
The Hounds have a blockbuster
encounter with second placed Ingle
Farm in round 17 which may well
decide the minor premiership. Fourth
placed Rosewater avenged its loss to
Lockleys earlier in the year by accounting
for the Demons by 67
points. It was a crucial win for Rosewater
who have kept its top two aspirations
alive and dented the Demons
top five hopes.
Fitzroy continue to sustain pressure
on Lockleys for fifth position after its
commanding triumph against Mawson
Lakes. After losing 9 premiership
points from both senior teams last
week, Central United put that behind
them to record a convincing win
against struggling Mitchell Park.
James Bain slotted 13 goals to continue
his good form in 2014.
