I would like to pay tribute to the late John Carroll for the amount of work put into setting up this encyclopedia. His work researching the various records, particularly in the early years has been painstaking and invaluable.
The figures contained in the following document have been compiled from various documents in my possession and also through the local press. Unfortunately records of the club are incomplete (especially reserves & thirds) and therefore the figures contained below are incomplete. Any amendments are welcomed, as are any press cuttings or documents in support of the proposed amendment. Please contact Wal Williams at joywalwi@bigpond.com or (03) 5974 4218.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I would like to acknowledge the resources of the Sandringham Football and Social Club Inc, the city of Bayside Library, and the Sandringham & District Historical Society. I would also like to acknowledge those people who have read earlier drafts and gave useful suggestions; also those who have contacted me with additions and corrections.
Information concerning reserves players pre-World War 2 comes mainly from the Sandringham News. The foresight of the late Jim Bisset in collecting and preserving a lot of the Club's history in press cuttings, photographs, minutes books etc is greatly appreciated. Information on players who played in the AFL/VFL (games, goals etc) from The Encyclopedia of League Footballers - every AFL/VFL player since 1897 by Jim Main and Russell Holmesby.
