A great
turn out of 160 at the Social Club for the 2010 Presentation night. It was a
great night and although we didn’t have the strongest season on the field the
general consensus is we are building towards getting back to where we were
during the mid 2000’s.
The night
kicked off with reserves coach Jeremy Barnard presenting the reserves awards –
These were dominated by Kallen Geary who picked up Best Player In The Finals
and the Runner Up Best and Fairest while Maddison Hardiman who now wants to be
referred to as “the most decorated player in the clubs history” took home the Team
Involvement Award, the Reserves Best and Fairest and would also take home the
Most Determined in the Seniors later in the night.
Scott
Gower in his first year at the club was awarded the Reserves Coaches Award for
his rock solid year in defense, another
first year player Maddison Andrews took home the Most Determined Player after
playing most of the year with a bung shoulder.
Not
surprisingly Nick Sautner (The actual most decorated player in the clubs history)
took home another leading goal kicker award while Chris Irving capped a stellar
first VFL season with the most Liston votes and best 1st year player
awards. Jimmy Magner took home 3rd in the Best and Fairest while he
also added the most courageous player to his trophy cabinet and young gun James
Hallahan got the coaches award after recovering from chronic groin issues early
in 2010.
The vote
count in the seniors kicked off from round 10 with Magner leading from Jack
Steven, Shane Tregear and Chris Irving with young Irishman Tommy Walsh rounding
out the top 5, it was a hotly contested vote count with David Gallagher hitting
his straps and eventually the lead by round 14 with Tregear and Magner in hot
pursuit. Tregear eventually hit the front and looked unbeatable after polling
maximum votes in round 16 against Port Melbourne. Tregear finished on top with
young Saint Tom Simpkin 2nd and Jimmy Magner 3rd.
Best
dressed couple for the night went to Keiffer Smith-Cameron and Peter Shakallis
– Well done guys! While speech of the night was clearly Jeremy Barnard, Barney
was reeling off quotes and jokes like a seasoned comedian. A good night all
round!
