STAN PLUMRIDGE was recruited from the South Districts Football Club in 1929. He made an immediate impression, playing 21 games in a team that was desperately unlucky not to win the grand final. Even more notable was the fact that he won the club's best & fairest award in his debut season. Most of his early football was played as a rover or centre man. He was moved to the back pocket in 1931 and played most of his football in that position until he retired at the end of the 1936 season. He was a highly skilled player, extremely fair and a natural leader. His club record of 154 consecutive games out of a total of 156 is testimony to his remarkable durability. After a short stint as playing coach of the South Districts he returned to the club as coach of the Reserves, a position he held from 1944 to the early sixties. .
