Sports club sponsors Raiders
CABARITA Beach Sports Club has punted high and followed through with a sponsorship deal with Tweed Coast Raiders Rugby League Club.
The sports club, a fantastic and benevolent supporter of local community organisations, sporting clubs, schools and individuals, will be the Raiders' major sponsor as they make their debut in the Gold Coast Tweed Rugby League in 2012.
The Raiders will compete in the first grade Bycroft Cup competition and will also field reserve grade, under 19 years and under 17 years teams in the GCTRL after previously campaigning in the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League.
Raiders' president, Bob McDowell, has been grinning like a Cheshire cat for several weeks now - and for good reason.
The lucrative deal with Cabarita Beach Sports Club comes on top of big numbers across all grades turning up for early season training.
"This is a wonderful gesture by Cabarita Sports and our football club will be leaving no stone unturned to ensure it is a relationship beneficial to both clubs," Mr McDowell said.
"The sponsorship is initially for one year just to see how everything pans out but I am very confident this will be a long-term involvement.
"The days of clubs handing out money willy-nilly to sporting clubs are long gone.
"We have assured Ian Crabb (chairman) and Brad Beetson (general manager) that the Raiders will do our utmost to put what we can back into the club financially.
"We have already held a couple of family barbeques to coincide with player sign-on days and are planning a long list of activities to support Cabarita Sports.
"We will be having our post-home game presentations and get-togethers back at the club, obviously the end-of-season presentations will be there as well as other major social functions and of course we will be promoting the club throughout our membership and supporters as a functions venue for things such as birthdays and weddings."
Brad Beetson, an old leaguie from way back, says Cabarita Beach Sports Club was "delighted" to come on board as the Raiders major sponsor after filling minor sponsorship roles over previous seasons.
"The club has a proud tradition of supporting local community organisations and this sponsorship of the Raiders continues the trend," Mr Beetson said.
"As Bob said, it is a reciprocal arrangement between both clubs and the board and I are confident the relationship will be a success."
Cabarita Beach Sports Club last financial year injected in excess of $64,000 into the community - recipients included individuals, Bogangar Public School, Cabarita Dune Care and Cabarita Youth Group.
