With the buzz of finals footy in the air, last night’s Morrish Medal awards ceremony at Etihad Stadium provided Oakleigh Chargers’ players, family members and officials the opportunity to come together and celebrate a successful home and away season.
The Chargers came away with some impressive awards; having our Captain Darcy Moore named as an All-Australian and TAC Cup Team of the Year representative alongside Alex Urban.
The Morrish Medal vote count came down to the wire when Toby McLean came into contention, receiving votes in each game from round 14-17.
However it was Gippsland Power’s Alex Carr who took away the top honour on 17 votes, followed by McLean on 14 and Urban equal third on 12.
An outstanding achievement by all players, having received the second most amount of votes, out of all TAC Cup teams.
The Chargers will take on Sandringham Dragons in a Preliminary final 2.15pm this Saturday at Visy Park.
