The Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club night of nights was held last night at the famous Veneto Club in Bulleen and with a new format, it was always going to be an exciting night.
For the first time in many years, the Club decided to hold a full round by round vote count of the Seniors home and away season with Director of Football, Leigh Carlson providing a summary of each round along with the vote getters. Mixed in between and throughout the course of the count, we paused to acknowledge the award winners from each of our other three teams (Reserves, Thirds and U/19's).
Club Captain, Jarrod Carlson added yet another Senior Best & Fairest to his very full trophy cabinet. This year's award makes it 5 in a row for Jarrod and 6 in the last 7 years (a club record). He edged out highly fancied onballer Jonathan Blanch who had an outstanding season. Congratulations to both on an exceptional year of football.
Janiffer Williams was presented with the presitegous President's Award for her great contribution and dedication to the Club. Janiffer is in charge of all social events which include our game day luncheons and formal events throughout the year. She also manages the Canteen and jungles being the Club Doctor all whilsts trying to cheer on her son Nick week in, week out. Congratulations, Janiffer!
The night also consisted of a very special presentation to the one and only Mr. Tim Naughton. "Timmy" or "Norts" as he is so famously known for in the Marcellin community was elevated to Legend Status, the first in the history of the Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club. President Tim Money along with Club Life Member, Peter Gartner paid tribute to the dedication and committment that Tim has continued to show for some 50+ years. We congratulate Tim on this fantastic achievement.
The event was also a time to thank the services of Senior Coach Greg Freemantle and his assistants Cameron Crowley and Graham Anderson for their hard work and committment that they have put forward for the past 2 years. We wish them all the very best for the future.
Thank you also to our coaches Stuart Kemp, James Vear, Liam McCormack and Jordan Wise. Your efforts this season have been outstanding we certainly do not take for granted how much work you put into the year. We look forward to having you all back at the Club in some capacity in 2015.
