Congratulations to Andrew and Thomas Kapernick who recently travelled to Mackay to assist with umpiring duties for the Qld 15 Years Schoolboys AFL Carnival. Word has it that the boys performed extremely well over the duration of the carnival. It was a terrific opportunity for the boys to attend to gain a greater knowledge of the game and the confidence needed to manage and control games of AFL.more
Last Saturday during half time of the A Grade game v Brothers Panthers U7, 9's and 11's took to the field to have a run against Brothers.It was terrific to see all our young footballers putting on a jersey and getting out and having some fun kicking and chasing the footy around. The kids were full of excitement and the parents certainly enjoyed the moment. Thanks to coaches, managers and kids!!!more
Friday Night kicks off this week at Panthers with the U 7's eager to show off their skills to Mum and Dad.
Under 9's and Under 11's will be split and will play against each other as a warm up to Round 1 of Friday night competition which will commence Friday 24th April.
Evening starts at 6pm and will conclude with a sausage sizzle.more

The annual development camp is being held at the Yeppoon PCYC Leadership Development Centre at Cooee Bay from Friday November 21st to Sunday 23rd. Any interested footballers male/female from 11yrs up to U16 are eligible to attend. All participants are asked to be at the PCYC by 4-45pm Friday. The camp will conclude Sunday 12-30pm.

Gordon Oxenham recently returned from representing Queensland Over 45's at the AFL National Masters Carnival in Adelaide from 28th September to 4th October. Not only did Queensland win the carnival, but Gordon was named All Australian for the Over 45's age group. What an outstanding effort!!!! An exciting....gripping and nail biting game of finals footy was displayed in the Grand Final by the Panther's women's team. The game could have gone either way with the girls applying pressure early on to gain the upper hand. However, in the dying minute of the game the chance of a Grand Final victory was not to be. Look out ... I think the narrow loss will only spur the girls on for 2015.more
Panthers Women's Team scored a nail biting win over a very physical Gladstone team on the weekend 22 points to 18. Gladstone applied pressure all over the ground from the first whistle however the Panthers girls stood up to the onslaught and toughed it out for the first three quarters. Junior League Presentations were held at the Raglan Gun Club on Sunday 31st August. Junior Club volunteers Imogen Pringle (U13), Travis Young (U15) and Ashley Kapernick were awarded for their contribution to the Club for the 2014 Season.
Josh Davidson received U15 Best and Fairest Award for the League.

The Club hosted a very successful Cluster Day last Sunday. The day was all about the kids playing footy in Under 7, 9 and 11 age groups with one team from each age group representing Brothers, BITS, Glenmore, Gladstone, Yeppoon and Panthers. Under 9 and 11 played modified games throughout the morning, while the Under 7 worked on their skill development. Thanks to all the umpires and volunteers.more
Hannah Davidson has been selected to represent Australia in the 2014 New Zealand Tour for Youth Girls. She was chosen from 22 girls who attended the AFL High Performance Academy in January. Players were chosen on leadership, football participation, skill level and contribution to their club, league and State.
Hannah will travel to NZ in October and play 9-a-side games. We wish her well.more
The Club has recently attained a Level 3 Good Sport Accreditation. Under the program the club focus has been on young people, families and participation in sport and less on alcohol consumption. Good sports supports the clubs committee to change the way alcohol is managed in all activities at the Clubs grounds and functions.

Congratulations to Taylah Pringle, Amy and Brooke Slatter who travelled to Mackay to play Townsville and Mackay for the Gems last weekend. The Gems were successful in winning both games, however the girls found that both sides were more competitive this year with pressure applied around the ground. Taylah was strong down back, Brooke ran freely on the wing and Amy kicked goals up forward.more
Panthers had a number of players selected in Rep teams over the long weekend. Juniors Victor and James Fitzgerald played in the U14 Cyclones and U12 Schoolboys respectively. Victor was selected in the U14 Central Qld team to travel later in the month to contest the State Championships and James was selected in the U12 Qld Country Schoolboys after his performances for Capricornia Team. Hannah Davidson travels this weekend as part of the Qld team which will compete at U 18 Youth Girls National Championships in Canberra. Hannah will attend a welcome parade of all teams competing prior to the AFL GWS and Port Adelaide game on Saturday May 3rd. Fantastic day for the club with three wins. Under 15's, Reserves and A's had a successful outing at Clinton Park. Unfortunately the U13's and Women going down, but fighting hard to the end. Lack of numbers on the park made it difficult for the Under 13's. But the team worked hard all game and were very unlucky in the final quarter not to record their first goal. Senior Coach Vincent Proud has moved swiftly in naming the first of two Senior Assistants, Leigh “Hollywood” Coulter. Hollywood landed at the club in 2013 via Cairns after being posted in Rockhampton as a Police Officer. Last weekend some interested members spent Sunday attending a strength and conditioning ( S&C ) information session with Glenn Hansen from Vector Health. The club aims to incorporate specific targeted S&C work in the pre-season and throughout club training sessions. Hannah Davidson was recently selected to represent Qld at the National Youth Girls Championship in May 2014 following her recent performances for the Cobras at the AFL Qld U17 State Championships. Although the Cobras failed to win a game the girls showed much improvement throughout the carnival.

Great family fun filled presentation day ends the junior footy season for the year. Kids were entertained with bouncy castles and bungie sprint run, as well as organised sprint races and afl games against parents where the parents were victorious again.
Special thanks to parents and junior footballers who supported the day, and the many organisers and volunteers on the day.

Walking through the gate I noticed lots of people,lots of action with kids playing footy on several marked out ovals, parents/grandparents spectating and siblings randomly kicking footies around. Taylah Pringle, Kelsie Hitchman, Amy Slatter and Hannah Davidson represented Capricornia Gems recently at the 2013 KooGa AFL Qld Womens State Championships held in Brisbane.Although the Gems failed to record a win it was their first appearance at the carnival. Jaz Pringle and Hannah Davidson were in Brisbane last weekend representing Capricornia School Sport at the 16Yrs State Carnival. This is the second year of the carnival with 8 regions participating in 2013. Although the girls failed to win a game,the team was very competitive. Jaz received the coaches award and Hannah the players player award. Hannah selected in the Queensland Merit Team for 2013.more

Congratulations to Hamish Davidson and Stephen Mills, two Panthers juniors who have been chosen to play for the Gold Coast Suns Academy U 18 side against Brisbane Lions Academy on Saturday March 16th at Yeronga and Sunday March 24th at Labrador. From these games a squad of 30 will be selected to form the Qld U 18 Scorpions team which will contest the Nationals in June and July. Well done boys!!more
