Junior Umpires

Congratulations to Andrew and Thomas Kapernick who recently travelled to Mackay to assist with umpiring duties for the Qld 15 Years Schoolboys AFL Carnival. Word has it that the boys performed extremely well over the duration of the carnival. It was a terrific opportunity for the boys to attend to gain a greater knowledge of the game and the confidence needed to manage and control games of AFL.more



Half Time Kids Footy

Last Saturday during half time of the A Grade game v Brothers Panthers U7, 9's and 11's took to the field to have a run against Brothers.It was terrific to see all our young footballers putting on a jersey and getting out and having some fun kicking and chasing the footy around. The kids were full of excitement and the parents certainly enjoyed the moment. Thanks to coaches, managers and kids!!!more

Friday Night Footy Kicks off with a Family Night

Friday Night kicks off this week at Panthers with the U 7's eager to show off their skills to Mum and Dad.
Under 9's and Under 11's will be split and will play against each other as a warm up to Round 1 of Friday night competition which will commence Friday 24th April.
Evening starts at 6pm and will conclude with a sausage sizzle.more

Coaches Gain Accreditation

Congratulations to Marcus Britt, Brett Beaty, Darrel Dalton and Tim Grimes for successfully completing the Level 1 AFL Coaching Course last Sunday. All coaches who are involved in some form of coaching at the club are required to become accredited.

Suns AFL Capricornia Junior Development Camp 2014

The annual development camp is being held at the Yeppoon PCYC Leadership Development Centre at Cooee Bay from Friday November 21st to Sunday 23rd. Any interested footballers male/female from 11yrs up to U16 are eligible to attend. All participants are asked to be at the PCYC by 4-45pm Friday. The camp will conclude Sunday 12-30pm.

Youth Girls Academy for 2015

Congratulations to Hannah Davidson who has been selected in the Youth Girls State Academy Level 2 (17-18yrs) for 2015 following her recent performances at the Youth Girls State Championships held in Brisbane.
Capricorn Cobras Tashina Ketchup (Glenmore), Taniel Bruton (Gladstone)were selected in Level 2 and Tavia Dunne in Level 1 (14-16yr) of the State Academy for 2015. Well done girls.more

AGE....No Barrier to success

Gordon Oxenham recently returned from representing Queensland Over 45's at the AFL National Masters Carnival in Adelaide from 28th September to 4th October. Not only did Queensland win the carnival, but Gordon was named All Australian for the Over 45's age group. What an outstanding effort!!!! Congratulations just shows what one can do if you love the game, work hard and you look after your body!!more

Pink Panthers..... do us PROUD

An exciting....gripping and nail biting game of finals footy was displayed in the Grand Final by the Panther's women's team. The game could have gone either way with the girls applying pressure early on to gain the upper hand. However, in the dying minute of the game the chance of a Grand Final victory was not to be. Look out ... I think the narrow loss will only spur the girls on for 2015.more

PINK Panthers through to Grand Final

Panthers Women's Team scored a nail biting win over a very physical Gladstone team on the weekend 22 points to 18. Gladstone applied pressure all over the ground from the first whistle however the Panthers girls stood up to the onslaught and toughed it out for the first three quarters. In the last quarter thanks to Sarah Dempsey the rock down back held off Gladstone in the final minutes. Congratsmore

Junior League Awards

Junior League Presentations were held at the Raglan Gun Club on Sunday 31st August. Junior Club volunteers Imogen Pringle (U13), Travis Young (U15) and Ashley Kapernick were awarded for their contribution to the Club for the 2014 Season.
Josh Davidson received U15 Best and Fairest Award for the League.

Junior Presentation 7th September 10am - 2pm

The Junior Presentation will be held on Sunday 7th September (Fathers Day) at 10am - 2pm with the presentation of Awards commencing at 1.30pm. What a great way to spend Fathers Day watching the kids enjoying themselves with their footy friends and Dads joining in on the fun!!!
Should be a great day with the activities planned.BBQ lunch, salads U13, U7 and U15 nibbles and U9 and U11 desserts.more

Women move a step closer

Panthers Women scored a emphatic win over Yeppoon to move into the next round of finals footy. The girls are playing a good brand of footy and gaining confidence every game. They are contributing all over the ground and working well as a team.

The Club hosted a very successful Cluster Day last Sunday. The day was all about the kids playing footy in Under 7, 9 and 11 age groups with one team from each age group representing Brothers, BITS, Glenmore, Gladstone, Yeppoon and Panthers. Under 9 and 11 played modified games throughout the morning, while the Under 7 worked on their skill development. Thanks to all the umpires and volunteers.more

Hannah selected for New Zealand Tour

Hannah Davidson has been selected to represent Australia in the 2014 New Zealand Tour for Youth Girls. She was chosen from 22 girls who attended the AFL High Performance Academy in January. Players were chosen on leadership, football participation, skill level and contribution to their club, league and State.
Hannah will travel to NZ in October and play 9-a-side games. We wish her well.more

Club Attains Level 3 Goods Sports Accreditation

The Club has recently attained a Level 3 Good Sport Accreditation. Under the program the club focus has been on young people, families and participation in sport and less on alcohol consumption. Good sports supports the clubs committee to change the way alcohol is managed in all activities at the Clubs grounds and functions.

Panthers Trio selected in Capricornia Gems

Congratulations to Taylah Pringle, Amy and Brooke Slatter who travelled to Mackay to play Townsville and Mackay for the Gems last weekend. The Gems were successful in winning both games, however the girls found that both sides were more competitive this year with pressure applied around the ground. Taylah was strong down back, Brooke ran freely on the wing and Amy kicked goals up forward.more

Representative Honours

Panthers had a number of players selected in Rep teams over the long weekend. Juniors Victor and James Fitzgerald played in the U14 Cyclones and U12 Schoolboys respectively. Victor was selected in the U14 Central Qld team to travel later in the month to contest the State Championships and James was selected in the U12 Qld Country Schoolboys after his performances for Capricornia Team. Hannah attends U18 Youth Girls Nationals May 3

Hannah Davidson travels this weekend as part of the Qld team which will compete at U 18 Youth Girls National Championships in Canberra. Hannah will attend a welcome parade of all teams competing prior to the AFL GWS and Port Adelaide game on Saturday May 3rd. The carnival commences Sunday with Qld having to play Vic Metro, Vic Country and Western Australia in their pool games. We wish Hannah wellmore

Panthers Players in 12 Yrs Capricornia Schoolboys Team

Congratulations to Liam Maxwell, Sean McDonald and James Fitzgerald who were selected to represent the Capricornia Region at the State Primary Schoolboys Championships to be held in Townsville on the Queens birthday weekend. The boys were chosen from trial games conducted in Mackay recently. Well done....more

Friday Night Footy 2nd May BRING A FRIEND, Sausage Sizzle and Movie

What more could a kid want. Playing footy, having a feed followed by watching a movie.
The club will be putting on a sausage sizzle and drink for Under 7,9's and 11's on Friday evening.
Under 7 & 9's play commences at 6pm and Under 11's will play at 7.15pm. After the game kids and parents are invited to the club for sausage sizzle and film. Under 11's will be catered for after their game.more

Round 1 The drought has broken 15's score win , with A's and Reserves also recording wins

Fantastic day for the club with three wins. Under 15's, Reserves and A's had a successful outing at Clinton Park. Unfortunately the U13's and Women going down, but fighting hard to the end. Lack of numbers on the park made it difficult for the Under 13's. But the team worked hard all game and were very unlucky in the final quarter not to record their first goal. It was a big step up ...more

Coaches to attend Level 1 Course

Sunday March 2 will see Panthers coaches attend a Level 1 coaching course conducted by Jack Barry from AFL Queensland. The Club aims to give all coaches the opportunity to be educated so that the standard of football skills and the game in the region is improving all the time.
Coaches are an integral part of the Club as they have a direct influence over each player in the team.more

Senior Coach Vincent Proud has moved swiftly in naming the first of two Senior Assistants, Leigh “Hollywood” Coulter. Hollywood landed at the club in 2013 via Cairns after being posted in Rockhampton as a Police Officer. Strength and Conditioning in Club Coaching Program

Last weekend some interested members spent Sunday attending a strength and conditioning ( S&C ) information session with Glenn Hansen from Vector Health. The club aims to incorporate specific targeted S&C work in the pre-season and throughout club training sessions. Also vital component will be management of specific injuries with S&C enabling less time off the paddock. Thanks to attendees.more

QLD U18 Youth Girls and AIS Selection

Hannah Davidson was recently selected to represent Qld at the National Youth Girls Championship in May 2014 following her recent performances for the Cobras at the AFL Qld U17 State Championships. Although the Cobras failed to win a game the girls showed much improvement throughout the carnival.
Hannah received an invitation to the AFL Female High Performance Academy in Melbourne in January 2014.more

Congratulations to Hannah Davidson who took out the Maree Lambart Award for Women's Best and Fairest Player for 2013 at the Annual Senior League Presentation Evening during the week. Hannah narrowly won by one vote from Glenmore's Meagan Rickertt. Well done!!!!more

Season Ends with Junior Presentations

Great family fun filled presentation day ends the junior footy season for the year. Kids were entertained with bouncy castles and bungie sprint run, as well as organised sprint races and afl games against parents where the parents were victorious again.

Taylah Pringle, Kelsie Hitchman, Amy Slatter and Hannah Davidson represented Capricornia Gems recently at the 2013 KooGa AFL Qld Womens State Championships held in Brisbane.Although the Gems failed to record a win it was their first appearance at the carnival. The pathway of Women from the region playing at State level can only enhance the development of the sport in the Region. Well done girls!!!more

Jaz Pringle and Hannah Davidson were in Brisbane last weekend representing Capricornia School Sport at the 16Yrs State Carnival. This is the second year of the carnival with 8 regions participating in 2013. Although the girls failed to win a game,the team was very competitive. Jaz received the coaches award and Hannah the players player award. Hannah selected in the Queensland Merit Team for 2013.more

Brothers Matthew and Nick Hull were named last week in the Qld Country Umpiring Academy. The Academy consists of the top youth umpires in Qld Country regions who have shown the potential to progress to umpiring higher levels of AFL. Congratulations!!!more

Panthers Team mates selected in U 18 Gold Coast Academy Team

Congratulations to Hamish Davidson and Stephen Mills, two Panthers juniors who have been chosen to play for the Gold Coast Suns Academy U 18 side against Brisbane Lions Academy on Saturday March 16th at Yeronga and Sunday March 24th at Labrador. From these games a squad of 30 will be selected to form the Qld U 18 Scorpions team which will contest the Nationals in June and July. Well done boys!!more

On-line Registrations

Registrations for 2013 are now able to be processed on-line. All previous club members can register and pay on-line by obtaining their username and password from either Lucy (senior men and ladies) or Krista (juniors).Re
Any new players will need to complete a paper registration form, available at training.
