"Hats off" to Club President Ross Laycock and Senior Coach Jeff Lyon for taking the initiative and leading both the Club and the League in this appropriate recognition of the ANZAC tradition.
It is believed to be have been a first among all sporting codes in Rockhampton; and, is consistent with the recognition given annually at an AFL-level around the nation for this most important of days in the nation's consciousness.
Sincere appreciation is extended to the Gracemere Sub-branch of the RSL for their blessing, support and attendence at the event, and the reciting of the Ode; in what was a fittingly solemn occasion.
Shania Dekkers (sister of BAFC U13 player, Xavier) concluded the ceremonial aspect of the day with an excellent rendition of the National Anthem.
Brothers AFC will continue to host the commemorative game into the future.
