A great day at Kele Park yesterday: We had a lot of new players on display and they didn't disappoint.
We went down by two points to Yeppoon and beat Bakers Creek from Mackay by three goals. When we consider Yeppoon had an average of 23 goal win against us last year it was a good result.
We were six goals up with three minutes to go against Bakers Creek and they got three late ones. We did play back to back games, so we may have had some fatigue and our defensive concentration dropped but we still shouldn't have allowed it.
One of our new players, Reece Walsh, was voted best player of the round robin. Well done Reece.
We had many good players during the day and what was very pleasing was we took a lot of weight off our skipper Scott Smithwick who we have relied on for so long.
The canteen was tops, many comments about lasagne , fried rice rice, frittatas, salads etc was really good.
Fiona worked all day one out as our trainer and did a top job.
The committee all pitched in as did Choclates as runner and Xmas as water boy. There were wives, girlfriends and others that helped out during they day which was great.
There is a real buzz around the club and next weekend we play in a six team round robin in Bundy, of which we play three games. I hope we can get as many there as possible. Remember there are meals at the club Thursday nights, all welcome, let's bond and be what we sand for: BROTHERS.
Regards,
Jeff Lyon
Senior Coach.
