Out of the 25 Clubs playing in the Northern Football League, our Club, the PANTON HILL Football Club, was awarded the 2014 Senior Club of the Year at the prestigious NFL Presentation Night held at the Plenty Ranges ARTS & Convention Centre.
The criteria for the award recognises the efforts of both the on-field and the off-field activity of the Club.
Certainly the on-field performance of the Panton Hill playing group led by Dean Haydock was recognised with the Seniors, Reserves and Under 19's ... the Seniors winning six games to remain in Division 2, the Reserves mateship was "stuck-like-glue" despite the results on the ground and the formation of the Clubs first Under 19 squad were factors in the decision.
Importantly, the efforts off-field were justly recognised in the award and really are the culmination of several years of "head down-bum up" work by the committee and others along the way.
In accepting the award on behalf of the HILLERS, Jayson Burleigh gave credit to many directly and indirectly involved at the Club ... particularly mentioning Eric Grimshaw and Scott Walker.
Burls noted the "unmatched in the NFL" ground lighting and playing surface at Cracknell Reserve, the facilities available to the players and of course the two new coaches boxes ... our two storey, fully equipped REDBACKS home box which houses the best video screen scoreboard around !
The NFL Media Manager and Presentation Night MC, Samuel Zito, also cited the good name our Club has in respecting others and of the way we conduct ourselves in the community and in the general football fraternity ... there's probably a place in the award too for the best food at a Presidents match day luncheon ... regularly praised by opposition Clubs visiting our home.
Thank you NFL ... THANK YOU and WELL DONE everyone at The PANTON HILL FOOTBALL CLUB
GO HILLERS !!!
