 To celebrate the Prezzies 10th Anniversary and also Madhouse from Sunday league before they came to play on Saturdays, on Sunday 21 August at 10:30a.m we will be kicking off in a “friendly” game against the H.U.A.F.C. Woman’s team, in the Denton Park Oval field.

The clubrooms will be open and the BBQ will be fired up.   This will be a great opportunity for a photo with all that are available to be there. 

COACHING CLINIC: 

The Committee has organised 2 Coaches Clinics in July: 

Junior Level 1        Friday 22 July,  6-8pm at our Clubrooms 
Youth Level 1         Friday 26 August,  6-8pm at our Clubrooms 
Even if you are not currently coaching a team, if you are interested in gaining Level 1 Mainland Qualifications, please contact clubsecretary_hornbyunited@hotmail.co.nz, or see Daphne at the Clubrooms.
 
END OF YEAR PRIZE GIVING DATES:

Please mark your calendar with the following dates for our end of year prize giving events.

Mini league: Saturday 10th September 11am – 1pm, at Clubrooms.  Please bring a plate of food to share 

Junior Football: 9th – 17th Grade: Saturday 10th September 2pm onwards at Clubrooms. Please bring a plate of food to share 

The club bar wil be open, and the BBQ will be fired up. 

Senior:  Saturday 17th September, Little Sister Café, Islington Tavern. 

Dinner 6pm, Prize Giving 8pm.  Tickets available to purchase from the Bar at the clubrooms, or contact Janine Tanner on 027-417-5339

Dinner Tickets $50.00 per head, and Prize giving & Supper tickets $15.00 per head.  Both include one free drink.

It’s getting to that time of year again, when we need to start thinking about awards for the end of season prize giving. We would like submissions for our club awards this year in the following categories.

KERAPA HORO SHIELD: - Awarded to a team whom have played really hard but who have not been successful in winning most of their games, but have continued to have a great team spirit, sportsmanship, and team pride.

Plus anyone that was awarded a Trophy at last year’s Prize giving, can you please get these returned back to us.

 QUIZ NIGHT FUNDRAISER:

The Women’s team are hosting a Quiz Night fundraising evening on:
Saturday 2nd of July at the clubrooms
Entry fee $10.00 per person payable on entry
Supper will be provided.
Prizes for teams who come 1st, 2nd and 3rd 
There will be Mystery Bottle Auction and Karaoke after quiz.
Teams of 4 – 6 people.
Funds raised from quiz night and bottle auction will go towards a new playing strip for the women’s team, and takings from Bar and Kitchen go back into the club.

MINI LEAGUE START DATE: 

Mums and Dads of our younger members will be very please to hear Mini league is starting on May 7th at 9.30am in the South Hornby School grounds. COACHING COURSES  -  South West Player Development Programme (SWPDP).  

The committee has organized, in conjunction with Halswell Football, some training over the next few months.  Because Mainland is pushing for Coaches to be trained when playing in Div 1 and 2 we would like to offer this opportunity to all of our Coaches of Junior, Youth and Mini-League teams and other interested Club members.  The training sessions will be held at the Halswell Clubrooms unless otherwise advised.   Please register at the link below. These are provisional dates, we will pass on any updates if there are any changes.  

We realise the first Junior Level 1 course has already been, so are  in the process of making arrangements for an alternative session.

Halswell United Coaching Courses 2016 :  click here for link  

We have also got the opportunity to help our Junior and Youth aged Goal Keepers to have some specialized training.  This is part of the South West Player Development Programme (SWPDP).             

Please let all the players who take a turn at being Goal Keeper in your teams know about this programme.  There is no cost to our players as it is part of our initiative to encourage and support their skills in the game of football.  The times of the sessions are below.

 SUB'S PAYMENTS: 

Subs can be paid at the clubrooms via cash or eftpos from 2nd April at our Saturday after match prizegiving evenings, or directly by internet banking. Our bank account details are:

Please include the player's name and Grade/Team so we can track it and provide receipts. 

 Please note early bird cut off is 30th April, so any Senior fees unpaid by this date will then become $220.00.

The club have to pay all the Affiliation & Team fees to Mainland Football by 20th May, so we need these paid up before this date.

COACHES AND REFEREE COURSE

We have received a grant so that we can pay for our coaches to attend a coaching or referees course.  If you are interested, please email your name, contact details and grade currently coaching: Email: hornbyunitedafc@hotmail.com

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED:

Our organisation relies on volunteers to keep the club running, We are currently looking for volunteers to help run our Kitchen and Bar areas over the coming season. This is done on a roster, so the duties are shared around.

We are also looking for a Secretary to help out with taking the minutes at our monthly meetings. If you feel you have a hour or two you could spare, please contact us, we would love to have you on board.

COACHES & MANAGERS REQUIRED:

Hornby United are currently  looking for Coaches and Managers for all grades for the 2016 season. If you are able to spare a few hours of your time each week, we would love to hear from you. This is also a good opportunity for senior grade players to share their knowledge at a junior lever. 2016 SUBS & REGISTRATIONS:

-         Mini-league - $50

-         Mini-league Second/third Child - $45

-         Intermediate Grade - $90

-         Intermediate Grade Second/third Child - $85

-         Senior Men - $220 ($200 if paid by 30th April)

-         Senior Women - $220 ($200 if paid by 30th April)

-         Casual Player – All casual players must be registered as a full playing member and then as necessary, will be reimbursed at the end of the season. The player must pay the minimum amount of player fees payable to Mainland Football and MUST notify the treasurer at the time of registration and prior to the first game.

Please note: Players whom subs have not been paid or payment plans put in place by 30th April, may jepodise your there placement in teams.  

All players this year must be registered online with Sporting Pulse / Mainland Football before they can play. This can be done via the link above, or at our registration days.

 CLUBROOMS AND HOMEGROUNDS:

Our Clubrooms are located in the Denton Oval complex, Denton Park in Hornby.

Our Home ground is Warren Park in Oakley Crescent, Hornby, where 4 of the 6 senior pitches are Hornby Home piches with Number 1 pitch also being our training ground.  Additionally there are 4 intermediate and 4 junior pitches available as well. Click here for Park layout
