On Thursday the club along with the our co-tenant the Notting Hill Brandon Park Cricket Club, had a meeting with Council at Columbia Park about the proposed re-development of the pavilion.
At the meeting the Council presented a preliminary concept design, budget and timelines and the next steps in the project.
Currently, the Council has allocated a budget of $1.4M ($300K from Dan Andrews 2014 election commitment and $1.1M from Council). The preliminary floorplan that was presented has been designed within that budget constraint and around the club’s primary requirements to have 4 flexible change rooms and a larger social area.
The club needs to provide feedback to Council on the design and we are asking our members for your thoughts on the initial concept. A low resolution PDF copy of the preliminary concept is available by clicking on the image below. Laminated A1 copies of the plan will also be displayed in the social and home change rooms from this weekend.
The club will be holding an information night next Wednesday (August 3) at 7pm at Columbia Park where you can ask questions and provide feedback. Written feedback on the initial proposal can also be e-mailed to the club viasecretary@wphawks.org.au. Any feedback needs to be provided by 14 August to allow the club time to consolidate ideas. The club has a follow up meeting with Council on 25 August. Council would like to reach agreement on the design with our club and the cricket club by September this year. It is anticipated that building would commence around 1 September 2017 and be completed within 12 months. It is an exciting time for the club with some important decisions to be taken in the next few months. We hope you will be able to make the information night on Wednesday to hear about the proposal. For those of you who cannot attend please feel free to discuss the concept with one of Tony Ferracane (President), Shane McCluskey (Vice President) or Lindsay Moore (Secretary) who attended the meeting with Council.
