The Avoca FNC held a very successful meeting on Tuesday evening at which a number of positions were filled. The club is restructuring and introducing a number of new roles to ease the workload of the Club Executive.
The club is working on the successful model that was in place during the 90’s which split all of the club roles amongst club members, which allows the President and Secretary more free time to cover the more urgent matters that arise during the season.
It was agreed that Match day roles will be rostered amongst club members, especially those roles at junior level which will be divided amongst the parents of the junior footballers and netballers.
So any parents that were unable to attend the meeting will be very pleased to know that they will still have the opportunity to support their children in their sporting endeavors when they are timekeeping, or goal umpiring or working the scoreboard for their child’s particular grade. This will also ease the burden by sharing the workload amongst those volunteers who currently fill these positions.
The club is also very pleased to announce that the Executive for the 2012 season is:
President - Bob Farnsworth
Vice-President – Graham Howell
Secretary – Luke Calder
Treasurer – Russell Elliott.
Incoming President Bob Farnsworth is very pleased to be leading the club in 2012 and is looking forward to watching our senior football team progressing back up the ladder. The club is very sound in all other teams with the netball continuing to be strong in all grades and the junior footballers also very strong. The Senior & Reserves football teams dropped away a bit last season but the future is promising and we all look forward to future success.
Coaching Roles in all grades of football were also announced and the club is very pleased to advise that Adrian Pilgrim will be in charge of the Senior Team in 2012. Adrian is a former Runner Up Best & Fairest for Avoca and has also led the goalkicking table on three occasions since joining the club in 2007. Adrian is very keen to see the senior football team back in the top eight and has been very busy working the phones on a recruiting campaign which has been very fruitful to date.
Mark Mclay has been reappointed as Reserves Coach with Bob Farnsworth assisting.
The Under 17 Coaching position has been appointed to the Father & Son team of Bryan & Jason Walkley with Trevor Field and Anthony Neil assisting, and the Under 15 coaching position remains in the hands of Craig Salmon who did a very good job with the inaugural Under 15 team in 2011.
A number of Netball Coaching Positions have also been appointed with Lauren McEwan leading the B Grade, Alexandria Ellis will lead the 17 & Under girls and Colleen Soulsby taking charge of the Under 13 grade. Appointments are still to be made for the A grade, C Grade and 15’s and will be announced asap.
