Update from Avoca Football Netball Club.
Just a couple of things to keep everybody in the loop of upcoming events.
The Reserve and Senior Football now have a practice match at 7pm tomorrow night (Friday 21st March) against Carngham Linton at the Ballarat High School Oval.
Donny Wilson has been organised to attend.
All players are expected to attend. If for some reason you are unavailable please contact Pilgs.
It would also be good if a number of committee members could be in attendance.
Last weeks practice match was very positive against Tatyoon. We had 18 players show up as we had a lot away with tennis and cricket grand finals and a lot are still overseas. We played five quarters with no one on the bench, Tatyoon had 10. And we only went down by a couple of goals.
All players did extremely well considering Tatyoon have played in the last 6-8 premierships in their league.
Everybody should now be aware the market is on this Sunday. We do not have the BBQ but we still need volunteers to help set up and pack up.
We will also be setting up the merchandise Stall and need someone to man that.
The Easter Egg Hunt will commence at 10am. If we could get a couple of netballers there by 9:30am to help set up and collect gold coin donations then another couple at 11:30 to relieve the early shift we should be able to cover the area.
We also need someone to jump in the Easter Bunny Suit. We will probably need someone with a working with children’s check to fill that role.
Please let me know if you have anyone you think would be good to do that.
We have at least 31 confirmed Stalls so it should be another great market. Continue to spread the word its generating good income for the club. It would be appreciated if you could let Luke Calder no yay or nay if you able to help out this Sunday as it makes organising things much easier.
With the recent tragic events that have taken place in our community, Sue O’Brien from the Pyrenees Shire has contacted me offering any support they can. Alison Cossar at Maryborough District Health Service has also extended her support and the VCFL have also offered help through their counselling service. Should anyone wish to take up their offer please let Luke Calder know and He will have something organised. This will stay purely confidential.
Lets band together as a club and get around anyone in need.
Senior and Reserve Football Training will now be on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 6pm as of next week.
The Junior committee is now up and running and going along great. We have now been requested to submit an under 12’s football side which will commence at 9am on a Saturday morning. We have advertised for a coach and will keep you posted. Applications close tomorrow week.
Not long to go till the season is upon us, looking forward to a great year ahead. Should anyone have any questions or issues that they would like to raise please don’t hesitate to contact Luke Calder.
