The Gembrook Cockatoo Football Netball club are excited to announce the appointment of Craig Clarke as senior coach for the 2015 season. A club favourite we wish him all the best to succeed. He will be joined by Rick Causer as his assistant returning to his home club after a season at the Montrose Football Club.
Craig after having a season in retirement has come back to assist the club rebuild its football department after a disappointing 2013 and 2014 seasons which resulted in being relegated to the second division competition of the Yarra Valley Mountain District Football Netball League at the end of 2013.
During the 2014 season Craig assisted the Under 16's coach on week nights helping to develop the clubs younger players in what was the juniors most successful season to date. He is now joined by Rick who has grown up with his local club to try and attract players back to the club and reinstate the Brookers as a force on the field, the ultimate goal a division two premiership and securing its place in the division one competition once again for many years to come.
The new coaching team welcome the challenges ahead and encourage all Brooker supporters, players and sponsors to get excited about football and netball next year.
Darrell Maher will again be taking up the reigns as the Reserves coach. The seconds doing it tough most weeks in 2014 , putting a side on the ground each week was an achievement in itself but the playing group were a committed bunch of guys and we are sure the reserves will again come out strong with renewed passion in 2015.
After not fielding any netball on a Saturday in 2014 , the club is resolved to rectify this situation with Penny Asling being appointed Netball Co-ordinator for the 2015 season. The club will be seeking players to field two teams minimum and are also seeking a netball coach to take on this challenge of bringing netball back to the Brookers.
