B Grade Report – Ironbank v Bridgewater
18/5/2013
at Home
Finally!
We look the team we should be
After an indifferent first half, the B’s started to play with teamwork and instead of blasting, found targets and played with gaining confidence in the second half.
The B’s had at least 5 outs but welcomed back Lachey Keeley from the A’s, James Phillips from Darwin and “Wobbs” Adams and Marc Farmer from injuries.
Masterstroke move from the coaching bench (all of them putting up their hand as the genius!) to put Chucky McClean back in defence. Chucky played a great game and looks as though he may still have a few years left in him!
It was a beautiful fine day and the oval was in great condition despite over 50mm of rain this week.

The first quarter was totally uninspiring with not too many highlights except for two classics. Our first goal came through Bawdo who soccered a left foot goal out of mid air from 30 metres out. Also Party (Daniel Partridge) set his tone for the day when he took an absolute hanger and played on straight away driving deep into the 50.
We went to quarter time 1-2 to 1-1.
Best of the quarter was Reay and Lachy Keeley. We had a paltry 29 disposals with our kicking efficiency just 66%

Party continued to do good work around the ground and we started to show a bit more run. It took almost half the quarter but we finally got reward through a good running goal from Rossco Williams.
Lachy Keeley found space to get a rare run with 2 bounces on Thunderer Park. Lethal Leith bobbed up with a great goal square mark after Michael Walkom had found BMac who kicked to the square.
As in the first quarter we let them score their only goal in the closing stages of the quarter.
We started to look the better team with 45 disposals at 75%. Good quarters from Farmer and Bower

The B’s finally got system going in their game. Party imposed himself on the game with 2 big hangers and goals that followed.
We kicked the first 2 goals of the second half in the first 3 minutes. After one from Party, Tommy Bower went straight out of the centre to M Walkom onto Bawdo and then the ever elusive Hanny bobbed up for a mark and goal.
Toros and Chucky had big quarters in defence. From a kick in we went coast to coast with B Mac finishing off the good work downfield. Toros had 3 big spoils this quarter and one of them certainly won him the golden fist award for the day.
We totally outplayed the Raiders with 45 disposals at 82%. Scoreboard pressure is the key and we kicked 5-2 for the quarter.
Good quarters from Michael Walkom with good contributions from Wobbs, Keels and Bawdo.

The last quarter belonged entirely to us and we started to show some teamwork. We lifted our disposals to 52 with 18 handballs included and only 3 of them ineffective.
After a couple of points we started to kick straight. Keels gave out a good handball to give Walkom a goal and then Hanny was able to kick his second.
Soon after from a Burkey clearance, Leith grabbed the ball and did the party trick handball over his head. Bawdo was running on and he didn’t have to break stride as the handball gifted him a goal. Bad luck, Leith – you were taken off straight after.
Hanny, the veteran was able to get his 3rd to ensure all involved will not hear the end of that one. Wobbs and Rossco became good players and both finished off the game with good majors.
A great, dominant last quarter where we had 52 disposals at 82% efficiency. You know we played good open football when there was only 2 ball ups for the whole quarter.
Top quarter from Rossco, Keels and Bawdo
