Summer Finals and Summer Season 2013/14
The summer finals are drawing to a conclusion this week. We have had a number of junior sides participating in finals, some yet to play in Grand Finals. Congratulations to all teams that have made finals and good luck to the ones that are playing in a Grand Final. GO SAINTS.
Also congratulations to all teams in all divisions that represented the club in the 2013/14 Summer Competitions. We have seen real improvement through all age groups from U10's to U16's both girls and boys. Well done.
In the Senior Grades our Premier Women participated in the First Semi Final going down to Hawks. Coach Travis Coombes and his girls have had an encouraging season and will be looking to go further into the finals next year. Rodey James and the Premier Men's side unfortunately did not make the finals however we were encouraged by the development of some of our U16 Boys who got a taste of Premier League action this year. Rodey with a number of players will be back for the 2014/15 season.
This season has seen our participation numbers since re-establishing our junior and senior programs continue to grow. In a short space of time we have now become one of the major clubs in the MBA and we envisage further growth with team numbers in 2014/15 summer competitions. For the first time the club will field U18 Boys and U18 Girls sides. We believe our junior and now senior programs are amongst the strongest in the region. A large group of club players are representing the Junior Heat and we have again had Victoria Country representatives. Congratulations to Shawn Clarke and Joey Muscatello on making their respective Victoria Country teams this season. Both performed remarkably well at the recent state tournament. Even more pleasing is the development of all junior players and the competitiveness all our teams have shown within their divisions this summer. Thank you to all our players representing Alcheringa proudly in junior and senior competitions this summer, well done.
As we are all aware clubs don’t run automatically it takes a huge effort. We are growing at the rate of five plus teams per season therefore more challenges present each year. Thanks to our voluntary Committee Members, coaches, team managers and parents who have helped throughout the season. Your efforts enable our club to put our teams on the court each week, thankyou vey much. To further enhance our programs we will endeavour to extend an offer to all coaches to attend some coaching training before the commencement of the 2014/15 summer season.
