Not a good day last week with all three sides going down to Wantirna South who retained the Phoenix Lubricants Perpetual Trophy. The under 19’s tried all game with the bare minimum of players before losing a couple more in the last quarter to get totally overrun. The reserves and seniors were both outclassed by better teams. Well done to Kane Milde on his first reserves game after leading the under 19’s in the earlier game. Good news during the week was the reappointment by the club of Chad Rogers as senior coach for next season; The Committee is delighted to announce Chad’s re-appointment for season 2015 as the Club is in a strong position with our young list and is committed to further developing our players, the players and the Club support Chad and his ability to lead the playing group to continue building success both on and off the field. This week we take on Templestowe with finals chances for all teams resting on the results; good luck to Matt Lawson who plays his 250th game for the club. Matt has not only been a stalwart of our senior side over the years he is also the coach of our under 17A side which heads into the finals this Sunday against Mooroolbark at Vermont. The U13’s coached by Russell Cawsey and the U12’s coached by Mark Bailey are also playing Qualifying finals on Sunday; good luck to everyone involved with these teams; lets get behind our junior players and show them plenty of support. Last week’s junior’s results for the last round and Sunday’s finals games listed below. The vets are also in action Sunday against Mooroolbark at Heights Reserve hoping to bounce back after a couple of losses. Meanwhile training will continue on Thursday Evenings at Kings Park. Get down for a run then stick around for a meal and beer. Anyone interested in playing this year please contact Simon McGillien or Jason Zinnow.
Juniors
Well done to all the players and coaches from the juniors on another great season. Great to se the under 14’s coached by Andy Hayman finish off the season well drawing the last game against a finals side after beating another finalist the previous week; it has been a hard year for this team after starting in the top division but the results show they are developing into great future Upper Gully footballers. The Under 17A’s under Matt Lawson go into the finals with a good mixture of top and bottom age footballers showing that the next couple of years for the senior club are looking good for more talented youngsters playing senior football. With plenty of other past Upper Gully players coaching the junior sides, including Heath Wilson, Mark Bailey and Paul Seamer the future is indeed bright for the club.
