The seniors went down in another close game last week, after dominating the first half without putting Mitcham away the second half became a real contest only to get run over in the last quarter. The Under 19’s and reserves both struggled against better opposition; well done to Jarrad Gstrein on his 50th game for the Under 19’s and great to see Chad Rogers play his first game for the club getting plenty of the ball in half a game for the reserves. Andrew Derksen (UFTGFC Club President 2011-2014)
It’s Time. I have been involved in Upper Ferntree Gully Football Club for over 15 yrs during this time I have always been in a role coaching Upper’s juniors for 10 years while playing at the senior club. In late 2010 I hung up my boots and took the role as Club President now in my 4th year and will continue to support the Club’s growth into the future. As people before me, over my time as President we have made many changes all I hope put the club in a better position to succeed, My morals were to improve our Club, improve club functions, improve club facilities, Improve Clubman ship “CLUB, TEAM, ME” and provide a path for our juniors, at the same time keep up with the day to day financial issues around today’s football. Success is built no bought! In 2014 I stood again as President giving others one more year to step up. It is now time for me to step aside for a new President of this great Club, I am sure all of our fantastic committee and support staff will continue to stay on as they make it easy to enjoy this role. I would like to thank everyone who put their hand up to support me and our club during this time.
I am asking you the Clubs members to consider doing this role; Upper has a good support base and many volunteers around to help. The Club is in a great position on field and off field and over the next few years will see success in many areas. I have really enjoyed my journey with the Club and friends who volunteer their time to better our great Club, I hope that we have made a difference during my time as President. At the end of this season I will step down and it’s time for someone new to be the face of Upper. I will continue supporting the Club for many years to come. If you are interested in this role contact myself for first hand info in this role. I am happy to support the next Upper President
