EFL AGM
A couple of interesting things from this years EFL AGM:
1. Good year financially for the EFL, (over $200K profit when you add back non-cash items) however no mention at all of any developments regarding The Hub project. Does no comment = dead in the water?
2. A lot of commentary on player payments and salary capping, but again reading between the lines their appears to be a large amount of scepticism and lack of enthusiasm at club level in all the Leagues. Unless those attitudes are turned around = dead in the water. Funniest comment of all was the refusal of the VAFA to participate at any level in the issue - clearly they do not have any issues with player payments!
3. Disappointing to see a large number of the Board absent, including the Chairman, the politician, and three others, (one of whom had a genuine reason for non-attendance). If the meeting was deemed a Board meeting rather than a members meeting, then there would not have been a quorum to hold it. In my opinion complacency and lack of interest at management level towards one of the few full member/management interfaces each year was extremely disappointing. At least some passing commentary on the strategic direction of the EFL for 2015 would have been nice. Having a lot of cash in the bank is not necessarily a measure of a good competition, sharing with your members a defined direction of management is.
Coaching for Season 2015
The Committee is delighted to announce the re-appointment of Chad Rogers as Club Coach for season 2015. The Club is in a strong position with our young list and is committed to further developing our players. The players and the Club support Chad and his ability to lead the playing group to continue building success both on and off the field.
The Upper Ferntree Gully Football Club is proud to announce the appointment of Luke Galliott as U19s Coach for 2015; Luke has been a Senior assistant Coach for 4 years and has had a key influence in the development of the Clubs youth. Luke will be supported by assistant Gary Nash "UFTGFC past player". The Club would also like to thank Peter Weston for season 2014.
The Upper Ferntree Gully Football Club is also proud to announce the re-appointment of Cory Rogers as Reserves Coach in season 2015, Cory will continue in a non playing role next season.
New Appointment - Director of Football
At a Meeting of the Executive Committee 2015 including the current Football Dept. it was unanimously agreed to appoint Andy Hayman to the role of Director of Football.
In this role Andy will carry out Player recruitment, Opposition analysis, player relationship and contract management. It also involves mentoring and guidance to our current coaches on a needs basis and Specific Player development, particularly our younger players or where special needs exist. He generally acts in the best interests of the Club with regards to football operations.
This appointment comes with the full backing of our existing Football Dept. in particular Chad Rogers, who overwhelmingly consider Andy to be the best person available, which includes his Level 3 Coaching accreditation and vast experience.
Andy will begin this role with immediate effect and work vigorously with the coaching panel to drive our on field success into 2015. The Club is very excited by this appointment which gives us great momentum and enthusiasm
