The club looks forward to a week off with the long weekend after another good win by the seniors to consolidate third place on the ladder. Well done to Tom Meagher from the U19’s who played his first senior game last week against Park Orchards. The U19’s who are sitting fourth on the ladder had a bye and will be looking forward to the next game after not playing for a couple of weeks. The reserves let themselves down narrowly going down by 2 points against the top side to see themselves sitting fifth on the ladder. Congratulations to Phil ‘Desi’ Carroll on his 50th game for the club. Good to see Nick Heuston awarded the Trojan Tools Young Gun nomination in the EFL Record last week. Good night last Saturday night with the 80’s night being held; thanks to Matt Lawson for organising the night. The Netball side will also have a welcome week off as they continue to strive for a win; get down and watch them on Friday night to show our support; see below for venue and times of next week’s game. The King Club this year is being run by Neil Thompson; a new initiative called the King Club Flyer Trophy is detailed below along with further details about the King Club. Well done to Cooper Mitchell from the U13’s who kicked six goals again last week, this time against South Croydon and also Thomas Franken was in the goals also kicking six against Forest Hill in the U14’s. Good luck to all junior sides on Sunday; times and venues below for all sides. Put in your diary Wednesday the 24th June for the Upper Gully Sportsman Night being held at Mulgrave Country Club; big names involved include Peter Daicos and David Rhys-Jones so contact Dean Wilson on 0412 312 672 to get your tickets. The annual THF Luncheon has been moved to the 11th July due to the availability of a guest speaker; also on this date we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1965 reserves premiership team; the 30th anniversary of the Bluebirds under 15’s team, the 40th anniversary of the Bluebirds under 14’s team as well as the 10th anniversary of the 2005 under 13’s team. Looking through the junior premiership sides below highlights many of these players went on to play senior footy at Upper Gully which shows the strong links between the junior’s and senior’s over the years. Any past players wishing to attend the THF lunch please contact Mick Stone on 0412 270 211 as he is organising a table or two. Memberships are still available please see Andy Lee or check out the website for further info. Upcoming events include Sportsman Night on the 24th June at Mulgrave Country Club and the Ladies Night on 4th July, while the IPod Night has moved to the 18th July; further events below so put these dates in your diary and contact the club if tickets required. King Club 2015
Neil Thompson is running the King Club this year and has come up with a new initiative to get the guys talking at half time in the rooms each week about the footy. The idea is for members to cast votes (3,2,1) on the player they think has had the greatest impact in the first half of the game and has gotten the team off to a flying start. The votes will be tallied up over the year and the player with the most votes will receive the King Club Flyer Trophy. Voting slips will be handed out to members of the King Club on Saturday. The King Club is a support group for the Upper Ferntree Gully Football Club. For 2015 members of the King Club have access to the rooms during the senior game half time were they receive food and drinks complimentary during the break; there are raffles to raise further money with joker poker. You become a club member and have free entry into home games and also receive a king club polo. There is also a King Club social event during the year, which includes food and drink. Neil Thompson can be contacted for further Details.neilt101@hotmail.com; mobile: 0400 921 357.
