Great result for the club last week with the seniors recording a comfortable win against second placed side The Basin. Well done to Josh Begley on his first senior game. The reserves were very impressive in recording another win with Adam Ward and Andy Constantine playing their 100th game as well as Craig Bridle his 50th. The U19’s were scrappy but still won comfortably with Tom Spangaro from the U17’s playing his first game. This week we welcome Ringwood to Kings Park as well as Park Orchards in the U19’s in what will be another important game for all sides heading towards the finals. In the seniors it will be 4th against 5th with Upper only being out of third on percentage, while the reserves and U19’s will be 2nd against 3rd with both sides on the same points showing how important these games are. The Netball side played Coldstream last Friday getting beaten after an even first half, Friday they take on Montrose; good luck girls. The Junior finals continue this week with the U11’s and U14’s playing First Semi-Finals after losing last week while the U12’s and U13’s won their Qualifying Finals to move into Second Semi-Finals this week hoping to get into a Grand Final. Unfortunately the U15’s lost their Elimination Final and now hang up their boots for another year after a good season. Good luck to all junior sides on Sunday; times and venues below for all sides. Memberships are still available please see Andy Lee or check out the website for further info. 2016 Coaching Appointment
The Upper FTG Football Club is pleased to announce the re-appointment of Chad Rogers as Senior Coach for season 2016.
“Chad has done a fantastic job with the development of our young list and the club continues to improve said President Peter Hards. We are already planning for 2016 and are looking to expand our football department so that Chad can continue to build on some of the success we have enjoyed in 2015. The club is in a very strong position to continue to improve and we have some exciting initiatives in place for 2016 and beyond” said Hards.
Milestone’s
Congratulations to Adam Ward and Andy Constantine on playing their 100th games for the club last week against The Basin. Adam started in the Colts in 2006 playing 15 games and kicking 8 goals, he played his first senior game in round one of 2007 against Templestowe before going on to play in the 2009 senior grand final and 2010 senior premiership sides. Adam has now played 65 senior games and 35 reserves games kicking 94 goals including 44 so far this season in the reserves. Andy arrived at Upper Gully from Ferntree Gully Eagles in 2005 to play U15’s, after finishing his junior career in the U16’s he went on to play 30 games kicking 7 goals in the Colts between 2007 and 2008 before playing his first game in the reserves during round 7 of 2008 against Waverley Blues. Andy went to Boronia during 2012 before coming back to Upper in 2013 where he has played all 100 of his games in the reserves kicking 14 goals. Well done also to Craig Bridle who played his 50th game against The Basin, Craig played 100 games at the junior club before playing 36 games kicking 18 goals for the Colts between 2009 and 2010. Craig played his first game in the reserves during round one of 2011 against Wantirna South before playing his first senior game that year in round five against Lilydale. After taking a break from footy at the end of 2012, Craig has returned this season and has now played 9 senior and 41 reserves games kicking 5 goals. A couple of this season’s U17’s players went well last week with Tom Spangaro playing his first game in the U19’s while Josh Begley impressed in his first senior game against The Basin at Kings Park.

King Club 2015
Neil Thompson is running the King Club this year and has come up with a new initiative to get the guys talking at half time in the rooms each week about the footy. The idea is for members to cast votes (3,2,1) on the player they think has had the greatest impact in the first half of the game and has gotten the team off to a flying start. The votes will be tallied up over the year and the player with the most votes will receive the King Club Flyer Trophy. Voting slips will be handed out to members of the King Club on Saturday. The King Club is a support group for the Upper Ferntree Gully Football Club. For 2015 members of the King Club have access to the rooms during the senior game half time were they receive food and drinks complimentary during the break; there are raffles to raise further money with joker poker. You become a club member and have free entry into home games and also receive a king club polo. The last Home and Away game at Kings Park will be the King Club Lunch. Neil Thompson can be contacted for further Details.neilt101@hotmail.com; mobile: 0400 921 357.
