Disappointing day last week with the U19’s leading for three quarters before being overrun in the last quarter by Park Orchards and then the reserves, despite five goals from Adam Ward and the seniors both going down to Ringwood who are playing good footy. Well done to Craig Bridle and Jason Divett who played their first senior games in a couple of years and Liam Gellie and Jared Derksen who played their 50th games. Great to see Bryce Hards rewarded with the EFL Trojan Tools Young Gun award in last week’s EFL Record. Thanks to Peter Ward for being MC at the Ladies Race Day last week. Saturday we take on top of the ladder side Mitcham in the seniors and reserves while the U19’s is 3rd against 4th. Well done to the U13’s who booked a spot in the Grand Final after beating Knox last Sunday. The other three sides will all be playing Preliminary Finals tomorrow after the U11’s and U14’s won, while the U12’s will use the second chance after losing last week. The Netball side had another win last week and continue their season on Friday nights; good luck for the remainder of the season. King Club Lunch is on Saturday the 15th August; guest speaker is Phil Murton (EFL CEO); King Club members please reply to Neil Thompson if attending; non King Club members are welcome at $75 per head which includes meal and beer/wine between 1pm and 4pm; contact Peter Hards if interested. Well done to Matt Lee on tying for the Haileybury 1st 18 B&F and also being selected for the APS representative team to play against the AGSV side on Saturday. Attached below is the Life Membership criteria for anyone wishing to nominate someone for Upper Gully Football Club’s highest honour as well as the criteria for Outstanding Services. King Club 2015
Neil Thompson is running the King Club this year and has come up with a new initiative to get the guys talking at half time in the rooms each week about the footy. The idea is for members to cast votes (3,2,1) on the player they think has had the greatest impact in the first half of the game and has gotten the team off to a flying start. The votes will be tallied up over the year and the player with the most votes will receive the King Club Flyer Trophy. Voting slips will be handed out to members of the King Club on Saturday. The King Club is a support group for the Upper Ferntree Gully Football Club. For 2015 members of the King Club have access to the rooms during the senior game half time were they receive food and drinks complimentary during the break; there are raffles to raise further money with joker poker. You become a club member and have free entry into home games and also receive a king club polo. The last Home and Away game at Kings Park will be the King Club Lunch. Neil Thompson can be contacted for further Details.neilt101@hotmail.com; mobile: 0400 921 357.
