The ROUND 15 game on Saturday 2nd August is against MONTROSE AT MONTROSE.

In Round 14 completed last Saturday we travelled to Balywyn Park to take on the Tigers. We were awarded the points in the Under 19s when they defaulted. But this resulted in many of the Under 19 players from both clubs competing in the Reserves. We kicked inaccurately in the game and at times were very loose resulting in them winning by 40 points despite us having 2 more scoring shots. In the seniors they rammed on 5 goals before we got one through the big sticks and that is how it panned out with them winning by 20 goals to 4.

It is interesting to note that 18 of the 22 players in the seniors came through our Junior sides and the remaining 4 were premiership players for the club. With the unbelievable run of injuries we have had this year we should start with a stronger list in 2015 and with some astute recruiting and the maturity of the list, we can make a real fist of it. In the meantime, we need to continue to work on what the coaching panel is preaching and tackle the rest of season 2014 with gusto and confidence. The scoreline of the 2 games is provided below.

On the social side we have our Gala Auction Night coming up on the 9th of August. This is our last major fundraiser for the year and we need it to be a big one! A reminder to ALL players from U19’s, Reserves and Seniors that you ALL need to find an auction item to donate, so get those thinking caps on and come up with some ideas! Talk to your parents, your boss or get a group together and donate your labour. Basically anything you can think of that we can put up for auction and raise some money!!

Finally, don't forget to support our junior sides in their 2014 finals campaign. I encourage all our players and supporters to go along and cheer on our future senior players!

Go Dales.

UPDATE FOR WEEK ENDING 26 JULY 2014

HOME AND AWAY SEASON A GREAT SUCCESS!

NOW FOR THE FINALS!

That is the home away done and dusted. The season has been very successful. We ended up with the under 11s, 12s, 13s, 14s, and all the three under 17s competing in this years finals campaign.

Congratulations to the Under 14s and 17 Premiers and 17 C teams that finished on top of the ladder and earned the week off.

This week our competing teams are

Under 11s are playing at Forest Hill at 10.55 am against Montrose

Under 12s are playing at Scoresby at 10 .55 am against Croydon

Under 13s are playing at Knox gardens at 12.30 pm against Rowville

Under 17D are playing at Mulgrave at 2.30 p.m. against North Ringwood.

It would be great to see Lilydale players and families supporting our boys at these games.

We had a great last awards night on Sunday night. The raffle was drawn and congratulations to the Lilydale Service Centre in Lilydale that won the Mitsubishi Lancer. Congratulations to all the winners. The ticket sales were a little bit disappointing and although we sold a few late it wasn’t embraced as much as I would like by the junior families and although we will still make a profit from the ticket sales it wont be enough to go and order a scoreboard for the senior ground before the building works at the Gateway begin prior to Christmas. Thankyou to all the families that helped with ticket sales. The committee and families will have to continue to work on fund raising for the scoreboard into next season.

We are hosting Junior Finals this week and next and a message from your team managers will be sent out early this week asking for volunteers to help for a couple of hours on the gates and BBQ this weekend. Go Dales. – Peter Koger
