The club was established as the Edmonton Emus in 2008 by Tristan Waldock, who coached the women's team for two years. The men's team, officially joined the following year, initially led by Hamish Martin, then led by Brad Havin upon Hamish's return to Australia. The Edmonton Australian Football Club was then formed.
The 2013 season will see two new coaches at the helm. Will Geisler has taken on the role as Head Coach for the Wombats and Jason Arnold is the new Head Coach for the Emus. Jason has also taken on the role as Head Coach of the women's national team, the Northern Lights.
Both the Emus and the Wombats will be playing 6 local club games and 3 cup tournaments, in Kelowna, Calgary, and Edmonton. The Emus will also be competeing the the Canadian Women's National Tournament in Ottawa in October.
Nationally, the EAFC will proudly be hosting the 49th Parallel Cup in August. We look forward to showcasing our club, our city, and footy in Alberta!
The club practices twice a week, on Monday and Thursday evenings, during regular season (May - September).
