Notice of the 44th Annual General Meeting

Notice is hereby given that the Forty-Fourth Annual General Meeting of members of the Weston Molonglo Football Club will be held at 7.30pm, 30th March 2015 in the Loft Room, Raiders Weston Club, Liardet St, Weston.

A member eligible to vote at the Annual General Meeting may appoint a proxy in accord with Clause 36 of the Constitution.

 Please send the following in writing to the Secretary:

-          nominations for life membership,

-          nominations for committee members, or

-          any other special resolutions

Business

1.      To confirm the minutes of the Forty-Third Annual General Meeting held at the Weston Club on       24thMarch 2014.

2.      To receive from the committee reports on the activities of the club during the 2014 financial year:

3.      President’s report including progress report of the club’s strategic plan

         a.      Junior sub-committee
         b.      Senior Sub-committee
         c.       Finance Sub-committee

4.      To receive and consider the financial statements for the 2014 financial year

5.      To elect Life members to the Club

6.      To vote on a special resolution to Clauses 29.1 of the Constitution be deleted and replaced with the following:

 

Except if the nature of the business proposed to be dealt with at a general meeting requires a special resolution of the association, the secretary must, at least 14 days before the date fixed for the holding of the general meeting, sendto each member entitled to vote at a general meetingappearing in the register of members, a notice specifying the place, date and time of the meeting and the nature of the business proposed to be transacted at the meeting. This notice may be sent by post or electronic messaging systems including email.

Background: Email is currently the most common form of electronic communication. Updating this clause also allows for other future electronic messaging systems to be utilised for the purpose of delivering the notice to registered members.

7. To vote on a special resolution to change Clauses 3.7 of the Constitution  be deleted and replaced with the following:

Nomination for Life Membership. Members may at the Annual General Meeting elect to Life Membership of the Club a person or persons whom they desire to recognise as having given outstanding service to the Club over a period of not less than ten years. The following process shall be followed in the election of Life Members:

Background: Ten years service is generally accepted as “long service”. Many community organisations recognise members for this amount of service by awarding life membership.8.
