VCL Gold Medal Presentations

Victorian Champion’s League participants were honoured on Saturday 10 March at AAMI Park with the VCL Gold Medal Presentations.

The members of each winning team received a medal, with individual awards also being presented along with the boys and girls All Star teams as well as the coveted Zone of the Year award, won by Loddon Mallee Lightning.

Hundreds of VCL participants and supporters attended the event and helped celebrate the many great achievements of the 2011/12 VCL season.

Instead of naming an All Star team for each age group as was the case in previous years, there was instead only two teams this year, with players selected from any age group.

Following presentations, guests took in the thrilling A-League match played by Melbourne Heart and Wellington Phoenix, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.

Football Federation Victoria CEO Mark Rendell said that the Gold Medal Presentations were a fitting end to a successful season.

“The Victorian Champions League is our premier summer competition and we are honoured to come together to recognise the achievements of people who have made the season so special,” said Mr Rendell.

“To have so many members of our VCL community attend the awards at AAMI Park and show their support for the competition is great to see.”
