Round 17 Action Zebras v Sgx

Good teams need to be able to bounce back says Medjedovic.

It looked almost certain that wins over St Albans and Bulleen in the space of two weeks would prove that Moreland would be a massive power force NPL1 West, but another cloud was put over the Zebras head after they surrendered a 2 goal lead at Box Hill on the weekend thanks to the late spurs of Chalk-Hatton and Surdoski. It has been a rowdy week at the helm of the Zebras with the departure of out of favour Bale Micovski to Preston Lions as well as the Zebras 15 match being broken. Captain Mile Medjedovic doubts these critics and says that “Good teams need to be able to bounce back”.

Zebras this week face Sunshine George Cross at CB Smith Reserve and Medjedovic is confident the group will come together and reset. George Cross are without custodian Robert Santilli but have faith in young shot stopper James Kapuranovski. Sunshine in the past 5 games have been far from their best collecting a possible 4 points, a win against Box Hill, losses to Ballarat Red Devils, Melbourne City,Whittlesea Ranges and a drew at Eastern Lions, all teams the Zebras have failed to take 3 points away from.

This game never fails to provide drama and will continue to do so, in 2013 Steve Martin (now a current Zebras player) captained George Cross in 2013 when Zebras took bragging rights when Josh McMonagle-Ihasz 40 yard strike stunned Santilli and Zoran Petrovski was sent off for infringing with Ex Zebras player Danilo Bonilla. But George Cross of recent occasions have had the last laugh when the Zebras surrendered a 2 goal lead in 2014 for George Cross to claim all 3 points at De Chene Reserve and in 2015 when Nikolic was controversially sent off to claim a 2-2 draw.

George Cross currently sit second from bottom on 15 points and the Zebras are currently sitting second from top one point behind Bulleen and one in front of St Albans. Medjedovic believes the Zebras can bounce back and take all three points to reinstate themselves to other teams in the league and take out the NPL1 West title.

Verdict: Zebras 3-1 Georgies

A highly anticipated match, which won’t want to be missed out on. Details as followed:
