Alen Stajcic will speak at a networking event targeted at coaches in the women’s game.

Football Federation Victoria (FFV) is pleased to announce that next month, Matildas boss Alen Stajcic will speak at a networking event targeted at coaches in the women’s game.

The event – part of the FIFA Live Your Goals Festival and will see the Women’s World Cup trophy visit Melbourne – will be held at Jubilee Park, the home of Ringwood City SC, on February 15, from 9 – 10am.

Alen Stajcic was appointed as Head Coach of the Matildas last September, following a period as Interim Coach in which he cemented qualification for the Women’s World Cup and led the team to the final of the AFC Asian Cup.

The AFC Pro-License holder has had a pronounced involvement in elite female football, coaching the NSW Sapphires, the New South Wales Institute of Sport Women’s Soccer Program and the U20 Young Matildas.

He then went on to coach Sydney FC W-League for six seasons, consistently finishing in the top four and leading the team to two W-League titles.

Stajcic is now looking ahead to June this year, when the Matildas will compete in the World Cup in Canada.

Australia will be challenged right from the outset in an immensely exciting and testing draw, in which they will face the USA, Sweden and Nigeria. Following the World Cup, the focus will quickly shift to qualifying for the 2016 Olympics.
