Thunder & Jets are up for the Cup

South West Queensland Thunder and Moreton Bay United have today launched a new initiative The Enerflex Cup to be held during matches between the two clubs.

It will involve all National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland teams at both clubs, from under 12 to seniors and be played in Laidley and Toowoomba next month.

Enerflex Cup trophies will be competed for and presented to every team at the end of their respective matches on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17.

However, with the Queensland School Sports State Championships on the same weekend and players from both clubs being involved, the under 15 boys and girls matches will be played on earlier dates.

Enerflex, a worldwide natural gas compression and processing company, which has operations in southern Queensland, is sponsoring the cup which will help bring together sporting communities in Toowoomba, Warrego, Darling Downs and the Moreton Bay Region.

"It is important that clubs work together to promote football Queensland-wide and for the NPL to be successful we need representation from all of this state’s regional centres,” said Les Moodley, General Manager for Moreton Bay United.

"This contribution from Enerflex helps both clubs work towards the overall goal by showcasing the NPL and what it stands for - giving youngsters an opportunity to maybe one day represent their state and even Australia.’’

Anthony Bigby, Chairman of South West Queensland Thunder, welcomed the new cup and support from Enerflex, saying: “It will give added incentive, reward and encouragement for all players and their families in the matches between our clubs.”

Enerflex representative Jake Speirs said: “Enerflex is proud to support a sport that has far-reaching benefits for the community and promotes partnerships between individual users, the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.”

Fixtures - August 16: Under 18, Youth, Senior Men at Laidley Football Club, Patrick St, Laidley. August 17: Junior teams at Captain Cook Ovals, McGregor St, Toowoomba.

Enerflex has been operating in Australia for over 25 years with expertise in natural gas compression and processing equipment, service and maintenance and turnkey project solutions and equipment optimization.
