Season Intro - Wenty Leagues Journal

With the 2009 NWBL season almost upon us, the attached article appeared in the April-May Wenty Leagues Journal and takes a general look at the shape of the WheelKings.
The home opener is on in just over 2 weeks against last season's runner-up Wollongong Roller Hawks - 4.30pm Saturday, 30th May at Auburn Basketball Centre. Scroll down the Latest News homepage for the full home schedule.
The information in the article was thought to be correct at the time it was submitted for publication (4th March), however, there have been some updates:
- the squad has now changed quite a bit from 2008 with Shannon Dallas and Gaetano Bagnato out to long-term injuries, and Liesl Tesch and Tina McKenzie unavailable. It was reported a month ago that Gaetano had recovered from his broken arm and was doing light training but he's since wrecked his shoulder and is again lost for the season
- the WheelKings are hosting the finals but the venue and the involvement of other organisations are still being determined
- Koen is in even better shape than reported :-)
