Caitlin de Wit starts for Australia in win over GBR
Saturday, 16th July, 2011
WheelKings rookie Caitlin de Wit has made her international debut for Australia at the Under 25 Women's Wheelchair Basketball World Campionships in Canada. WheelKings head coach Gerry Hewson steered the team to a 57-45 victory over Great Britain in his return to international coaching after a successful 6 year stint with the Gliders.
Although relatively inexperienced, Caitlin proved herself worthy of a starting position and played 27 minutes on debut, scoring an efficient 6 points as she backed up high scorers Cobi Crispen (21 points) and Amber Merritt (16).
Next game is 6.45am Australian EST tomorrow (Sunday) against the very strong USA team which beat Mexico 61-36 in their opener.
