Round two of the Trend interiors Carpet Court AFLC season was played over the weekend and the local AFL fans were treated to great footy in the games played across the region.
In the first game of 2007 played in the Port Curtis region the Mudcrabs hosted the Panthers at Clinton Park. These sides both desperate to improve on 2006 went goal for goal in the first quarter before the Panthers broke the game open in the second and were able to hold out the muddies despite being out scored in the 2nd half.
Down at Yeppoon the Swans caused the boil over of the round upsetting reigning premiers the Saints by 6 points. In a tight game all day the Swans were able to play the conditions and their home ground the better to take the 4 points and prove once again that they will be a serious contender for the 2007 flag.
In the local derby in Rockhampton the Roos hosted rivals the Bulls at Kele Park. These sides have history of bringing the best out in each other and despite a tough and tight first half the Bulls proved too good running out eventual 99 point winners. In the Reserve grade competition the Panthers, Bulls and Swans were all victors.
In the Paul Archer The Good Guys AFLCJ competition winners from the under 13's were the Swans, Bulls and Mudcrabs, Winners in the 15's were the Saints, Roos and Mudcrabs while in the 17's winners were the Saints, Bulls and Mudcrabs. Congratulations to Tannum Sands SHS and ST Brendan's winners of the Brisbane Lions Cup South and North Pools respectively, these two sides will play in the regional final on the 18/4/07.
