The Maryborough Castlemaine and District Football Netball League women’s football side is eagerly awaiting the first bounce, to kick off the clubs future in the VWFL.
The pre-Christmas signing of former Bendigo Thunder Best and Fairest, Jess Kile has the club on the right track to make steady ground in their first season of open aged women’s football. Kile’s wealth of experience is set to benefit the younger members of the team, with noticeable improvement coming from the likes of Caitlyn Butler and Shania Oliver over the summer months.
Despite some experienced recruits arriving at the club, Football Manager Brandon Weatherson has taken a conservative approach saying “Success won’t be measured in the win/loss column. We don’t know what to expect being our first year but we’re extremely focussed on delivering an environment which the girls can have fun and play footy.’’
The MCDFNL Women’s team is set to create a pathway for aspiring female players who have progressed from the BFNL’s Youth Girls competition.
The VWFL fixture is due to be released in the coming weeks, as the MCDFNL Women continue their preparation.
