Defeated by the smallest of margins in the 2013 Grand Final, Spotswood are ready to bounce back and give the flag a red hot crack in 2014, as club board member Tony Walshe explains.
Number of teams this year:
This year we will be fielding approx 9-10 teams.
Pre-season News:
We’ve had an exciting pre-season, which hopefully bodes well for good results in 2014.
Off field we have initiated a drive to bolster our past player and social membership involvement, check our website for details. http://www.spotswoodfc.com.au/
We have also been able to maintain nearly all of our loyal sponsors and a few new ones have got on board for this season, which is great for the club.
Expectations for 2014:
To continue to strive to be as competitive as we can be across all age groups, to develop young
players to be better each year.
Any significant signings for 2014?
A few past premiership players have returned after stints elsewhere, our younger players have
come back fitter and stronger.
Any young players to look out for this season?
There are a few young players who have trained hard preseason and will be pushing to play
senior footy.
Staff/coaching changes:
The club is delighted to have been able to appoint Tommy Langlands as playing Coach.
Grant Smith ex -Spotswood and Williamstown player will be the assistant coach.
Peter Lazzaro will again coach the reserves after a great effort last season.
