DIVISION ONE
Deer Park:
After playing just the one season with Deer Park last year, Daine Taylor will follow fellow teammate Brent Guerra to the Peninsula Football League where he will suit up with the Chelsea Football Club. Playing just 12 games with the Lions last season, Taylor will be coached by Guerra who departed the club at the end of the 2014 season. The official transfer of ex-Western Bulldogs player Stephen Tiller came through on Wednesday as he suits up for the Lions in 2015. Tiller joins the club after being recruited from Avondale Heights where his strong defensive skills saw him earn a position in the 2014 EDFL Team of the Year.
Port Colts:
There has been a fair bit of movement once again at JL Murphy Reserve this week as the Colts pick up 23-year-old Mitchell Brown from Sunraysia Football League. Out goes Tim Hanley to AFL Barwon’s Geelong West St Peters Football Club, James O’Neil to Seaford FC and Anthony Soriano to Templestowe FC. Despite the departures, it’s good to see young Riley Hogan has been approved to step up to VFL level to play with local club Port Melbourne.
Spotswood:
An influx of players will now call Spotswood home with 23-year-old Jason Marks putting in a transfer to the Woodsmen after coming over from the Ovens and Murrary League’s Corowa Football Club. Joining Marks are teammates Michael Cassidy and Michael Knight who will swap their Werribee Centrals jumpers for Spotswood ones. Cassidy and Knight will no doubt be famliar with their new surroundings having been former premiership players at the club.
St. Albans:
St.Albans has picked up three new faces this week with Remmie Football Club teammates Harrison Fotia and Jeremy Murphy coming across from the Picola and District FNL. Joining the pair is 27-year-old Ben Brennan who departs RDFL club Rupertswood.
Werribee Districts:
A favourite son will return to Soldiers Reserve this season as Chris Scudamore looks to depart neighbourhood club Glen Orden. Playing his junior football with the Tigers and a memeber of its 2010 premiership team, Scudamore will depart Glen Orden after three seasons in the brown and gold having captained the Hawks to its 2013 flag. Other additions include 25-year-old Scott Miller from Yarraville Seddon as well as Lachlan McDowell from AFL Barwon’s St. Joseph Football Club.
DIVISION THREE
Albanvale
Albanvale has picked up three players this week as Josh Moody and Shaun Hughes make the switch from fellow Division Three club North Sunshine. Joining the pair is Matthew Harper from VAFA club South Melbourne, while out goes Daniel Dimech to Avondale Heights.
Western Jets:
A number or WRFL juniors have been given new opportunitites to further their football careers after being elevated to the TAC Cup Western Jets squad. Named in this week’s transfers include Hoppers Crossing duo Kane Galley and Brandon Houlihan, Spotswood’s James Beilby, Point Cook junior Nicholas Buykx, Yarraville Seddon’s James Harrison and Werribee District pair Braydon Monk and Judah Dundon.
