Born on the 5th
December 1924, Aporo has contributed and supported sports, also achieved high status within the sports arena. He participated in the following sports Rugby, Cricket, Boxing, Tennis and Athletics. Aporo Williams represented the Takuvaine Club in
inter-village competitions held on Rarotonga, also while on Aitutaki represented the Amuri Club during the inter-village competitions
held on Aitutaki.
In the sporting arena, Aporo Williams team mates would comment by saying, “he was go to hide behind during times of trouble”, due to his stature. His rivals would comment these comments regarding Aporo:“Like tackling, or being tackled by a moving coconut tree”.
“Like being hit with a sledgehammer”. “Deceptively fast for his bulky and muscular build”. “Very hard, but also very fair”.An official publication about the

once described him as: “built square and strong enough to crash a bull”
Aporo Williams was also a founding member of the Takuvaine Sports Club about 1940, he also Captained Takuvaine sports sides, became
Captain, Patron and Life Member of the Club. Aporo Williams was inducted in the Cook Islands Sports Hall of Fame o the 5th June 2001.
